Me and my husband have independant insurance. We pay 300.00 a month and that is with maternity. Now the doctor says we have to pay the entire doctor bill before May so that is 500.00 a month. They said they don't know if our insurance is going to cover the doctor bills or the hospital bills when the baby comes so we have to pay up front and if the insurance pays them, they will pay us back and if not, they will already be paid off. Can they do that? Why wouldn't they just bill the insurance so they can get their money from them? That is why we have insurance.

If you have a $2000 annual limit on "brand" prescription drugs, would that also include any generic drugs?
Would generic be unlimited?

My mother is in need of gastric bypass surgery. She works for the state and they have an exclusion in their policy that will not cover this medically necessary procedure. She has tried open enrollment to get with a different carrier, but it is an exclusion that the state puts in. Is there anything she can do to possibly get it covered? She cant afford the $25k out of pocket!

I'll be renting my house soon and I was wondering if my homeowner's insurance will still be effective? Some concerns are:

1. Is HO insurance still active if the house is no longer my primary residence or homestead?
2. Is HO insurnace still active if the people living in the house are not family?

Any other concerns I should be aware of?

According to various internet sources, my car is worth £2-£2.8k. However, suppose it was written off, it would cost me appx. £3.4k to replace it (have found almost identical car on Auto Trader). In the insurance payout, would I get the market value, or enough to buy the equivalent?

I learned about a concept today where a person borrows overfunded cash value from a policy to make a mojor purchase. It is claimed this use (and subsequent return) of funds does not effect the policy's long-term growth. It sounds too good to be true.

I know if someone else falls they can go through my policy so would the same hold true if I fell? I'm wondering about this because I know if I had a solo car accident I could go through my own auto insurance to pay for it so does the same hold true for a homeowners policy?

I go Independent. Now all I need is for a viable candidate to make the scene.

What if the person who was rear ended did not file a personal injury to the insurance company at the time of the accident? Can he still out of the blue file a lawsuit against the person who hit him even though it had been over a year, claiming that he was seriously injured? What are the chances of this person winning the lawsuit?

1998 Camaro z28 Convert .
I hit a pole in a parking lot at about 10 MPH or so,
Called my insur and they told me to take it to get an Est or to take it to thier reccomended shop.
1st took it to Chev Dealer.
they did a 1/2 A$$ look and wrote me up a 5k Est and told me it would get worse but they need the insur. Adjust there to get in more depth and the frame has some repair needed.
im going to the Ins. Perfered shop today and going to see what they say, My adjuster has not even seen the car and has allready said "its not totalled" ( what ever)...
I asked him if i could take the money (-) my deduct and run?
He told me his Est. would be way lower then the 5k from the dealer due to thier parts and prices and the best bet is to just get it fixed then sell it.
How can i make sure i get the money i deserve.
the Insur Body shop wants to tear Dn the Car and give me a "accurate" Est but if i dont do the work there i have to pay for the tear down. Any Suggestions ?>

I am trying to do an IVF in January-
our insurance states that the Deductable is 2,200 and they pay 90% - after satisfying the out of pocket cost at 3,000 it is covered at 100%

it goes on to explain "out of pocket maximum - includes expenses applied to the deductable PLUS your co-insurance maximum"...

to me this sounds like the total out of pocket cost I can pay is 2,200 for the deductable and an addition 800 would satisify the out of pocket cost and they should start paying at 100%...
but when i asked my benefits dept they said it how it works is i would pay 2,200 for the deductable and an addition 3,000 would satisify my out of pocket cost ...

does this sound right?

I am 19 years old and am a college student. My dad has Aetna (health insurance) through his work at ConocoPhillips and due to a recent ridiculous argument, they are threatening to take me off their health insurance if I don't do what they want. I was informed that they couldn't do that unless my dad wanted to take my mom off the health insurance also. My informant said it was a 'family package' or something.... I need that health insurance, i'm hypo-glycemic and my immune system sucks, so i'm always at the doctor and I have a ton of prescriptions to take. Can they actually take me off or are they just making empty threats?
