have you ever heard of an HR rep telling someone not to ask for more money because they dont want to look greedy? I am transfering with my company and my wife is applying for a job with the same company in the new location. She is very much over qualified for the job that she is applying for and they are offering her way below what she deserves, $14 dollars an hour. She asked for $15 an hour, which is still way below what she should be making, and the HR rep advised her that she shouldnt ask for more because she did not want to look greedy. is this the most retarded thing you have ever heard or is this a common practice?

I joined a company recently, and I think I screwed up, though I know that I have the right in this
at first I was sitting on the wrong place where I don't have a direct contact with my colleagues who are working on the same account with me.. so I asked the manager o replace me next to them in order to make work easier.. so he agreed and went out with me to show me my new place as it was an empty desk ... but guess that caused jealousy.. the receptionist girl said that she kinda "reserved" that place before me and that the boss told her she will sit on that too!! I was surprised and she talked to the administrator officer and he said the same thing too !! I was completely shocked.. so the admin. officer called me the next morning tellin me to hold until we sit again with the boss to discuss the matter.! but I didn't listen to him, explained to him politely the situation.. but I think that made him angry not listening to him and went to my manager and gave the wrong impression about me

I have a job interview tomorrow for a personal support worker position at a nursing home. I know I should bring an extra copy of my resume and a copy of my references.
Should I photo copy anything else, such as high school diploma or certificates for other things?

So I just got my status from Mass as per my Unemployment Insurance and my old company has me listed as a voluntary quit. I called and asked how they classify these things and the HR person got snitty with me and threatened me vaguely, that I didn't want them to change it and that I'd do best to leave it as voluntary quit due to a relocation if I wanted to get a good reference from them.

Well, Unemployment called today and I gave them all the particulars of my leaving. But now I'm worried that they'll call my old company and decide in my favor and as retaliation my old company will tell people I was terminated and give me a bad reference.

Is there any way I can just call Mass Unemployment and tell them it's not worth it to me? I need to be able to get a new job more than I need 6 months of UI and the HR department of my old job on a vendetta against me.

Really.. my work is pretty boring lately. I had high hopes when I joined the firm but now i feel like I am totally overqualified or atleast this job is pretty easy and repetitive. I am not challenged enough. I have already told my boss about my frustration. She said that she would give me better challenging jobs until they find an analyst to do the stuff that I am doing. I do not trust them though and also I know that it is a time delaying tricks that they are playing. Its very difficult to find people with my skills in the market and so I know that they need me. What shall I do to move to a role that has more visibility and is challenging? Any ideas or if anyone has gone through this..I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

This is a portion of the email that was sent to me.
"I understand that you are currently in the job market. Let me tell you about a job search tool that will put your resume directly in front of employers, corporate hiring managers and recruiters.

Go to www.resumespider.com and click on the big red Run Search Now button then select your categories and click Get Results. You will see your actual list of employers, corporate hiring managers and recruiters that have asked to receive resumes with your skills."

my friend and i were having a discussion on what we hope to become one day. i told her i want to be a dentist, ultimately an orthodontist, and she told me she wants to be a lawyer. i didn't bring up a single thing after that, but of course, she had to go and bring up salary issues.

i most definitely am not becoming a dentist solely for the money. i really am doing it for the benefit of others (i get teary eyed when patients undergo smile reconstruction on extreme makeover, i really do! lol), but considering all the time spent learning and studying and staying in school - i believe the money is definitely something to like, as well.

to me it's obvious she's going in law for the money, just the way she talks about it. she said lawyers make more than dentists.

it's not a big deal to me, but it's got me wondering now. who really makes more money, lawyers or dentists?

I am working as a secretary and would like to feel as if I am doing my part, as I feel in my current job, I'm not really needed. However, I don't feel confident in my abilities and do feel guilty that I might be leaving my colleagues in the lurch, if one of them goes on holiday or is sick, then they would have an extra burden on them. I don't know what I can do, but I feel useless and sometimes v. depressed when I am at work most days.

Hello,
I have an interview tomorrow and on the 30th of this month and I would prefer to do the job on the 30th, but if I don't get it and might get offered the other one then I would take that one. My prroblem is, what do I do in case I get the job from the 24th offered, but I still have to wait for the interview on the 30th and the results then.
If I get offered the job on the 24th, what shall I say to them? I don't want them to know that I am applying somewhere else and that this job is my second choice.

I have a 2 year gap in my work history. During this time I was in drug and alcohol rehab, and ended up in a work release program, where I worked a couple of jobs and was incarcerated. This all occured out of state. How do I account for this time period; 1 - without drawing attention to my criminal history, or 2 - that I lived out of state. I dont want to lie, but dont want to be too honest either. Any suggestions. By the way I have been clean now for over 3 years, and do not live the same lifestyle as before.

im a college student and today i'm going to a job fair for the first time. i read a few articles about how to dress when going and got a lil discouraged. i dont have any professonial type clothing - only "church/sunday best" type of clothes, none of which include blazers or suits. is it ok to wear what i have, or am i setting myself up for failure so to speak? should i not go today, and wait for another job fair to come around, to sorta buy myself some time to add business clothing to my wardrobe?

thanks.

i know that it is not good to write it in, however i am seeing alot of recruiters requesting for this piece of information to be stated in the resume as well.

i have searched and for resume writing tips etc, but most if not all will tell you not to write this in.

so how/where do i write this piece of information in after every employment description? any other ideas or tips regarding this as well?

and, i am new into the working force, so i had included holiday jobs that i did in the past, its quite weird to put a leaving reason for those, but i see some recruiters stating 'Please stae a reason for leaving from EACH OF the previous employment(s)'

i dont want to come off as inattentive to details right from the start!

help me please!

So tomorrow is the day. I have a new suit, I have practiced interviewing, I have a copy of my Resume and my references, and I have some questions memorized to ask the interviewer! What else can I do to land this job? It is for a customer service postion for QVC headquarters. This is where they do the filming and all that exciting stuff. Thanks so much! I am going to bed now to rest up. I will check your answers tomorrow!

What money would this equal to in worth?
People always say...you can make more money in Tx or Fl...
but owning a house and two cars here is worth something I'd have to buy if I lived anywhere else. I'd have to leave the vehicles here for the rest of the family to use.

So how much more would I have to make to have exactly what I have AND be ahead?
I feel like "I got it going on!"
I think I'd have to make lie 5 X's as much. Am I right or wrong?
