Really.. my work is pretty boring lately. I had high hopes when I joined the firm but now i feel like I am totally overqualified or atleast this job is pretty easy and repetitive. I am not challenged enough. I have already told my boss about my frustration. She said that she would give me better challenging jobs until they find an analyst to do the stuff that I am doing. I do not trust them though and also I know that it is a time delaying tricks that they are playing. Its very difficult to find people with my skills in the market and so I know that they need me. What shall I do to move to a role that has more visibility and is challenging? Any ideas or if anyone has gone through this..I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I do not agree with the above poster, I wouldn't do anything insulting to your current job because they could be an excellent reference for you if you are doing superior work.

Often the case is you are so good at your job, that they would hate to move you up and find someone to replace your current position. What I would do is find someone you trust would be a good worker and have them apply for your position. Spread the word you are looking for someone hard-working and reliable to friends and family. Then if they are hired make sure you train them very well until you trust they can do the same things you can.

Only when your employer feels the details are handled will they consider moving you up to a better position.

Frankly, you move into better jobs with less grunt work by doing the grunt work and doing it well. If your skills are in that much demand, you could look for another job with more challenging duties.

If they are putting you off, get another job, you're done there.

If they are not merely putting you off, press them.

Show up to work one day in interview clothes and leave 15 minutes early. Be sure to be carrying a folder that just may have a resume in it....

Blast through your existing work and ask your boss for more work, demonstrate initiative. No boss will EVER say "Well, I think you've done enough, just sit around and do nothing"
