I recived a job offer today. However, I have an interview for a higher paying position on Thursday of this week. I am interested in both positions, but I really need to find out about this 2nd job. What is the best way to relay to the first company that I am interested, but cannot give an answer right now (they are expecting an answer Wenesday)?

I should note that the first offer I have already negotiated up and they cannot go any higher than they already are. I would prefer the 2nd one, but cannot afford to risk losing the first.

2 options.
1. Don't tell them and accept the offer. Than leave if the other offer is better. Happen's alot at my company.
2. Tell them and let them know they will need to make a good offer to retain your services. Could backfire on you though.

I've read somewhere before that it is perfectly acceptable to be honest with the place that has given you the job offer and tell them that you'd appreciate if they could wait for your decision because you are waiting for another employer to get back in touch with you. I would disagree with this, though. Don't want to risk them withdrawing their offer. I say just phone the other company and ask them if they've reached a decision.

Tell them that you are interested in there position and then say that you would like the weekend to weigh your options. If they have a problem with giving you 3 days, they might not be a company that you want to work for.

Simply tell them. It happens, it's not unusual, and it makes you sound sought after. This has the added benefit of sometimes causing the first job to offer you more money to skip the interview on Thurs.

Look long term so whoever has the best offer-Insurance, wages.retirement etc and treats their employees better then no matter what --that is the company I would work for. Now this information should be obtained by former and past employees.

accept the first job ... then wait to see if you got hired for the second one. pick whichever one you want best and quit the other saying you have a better offer. if you have the upper hand take advantage of it...it's your future. just don't burn any bridges in the process....tell them nicely and professionally

Call and ask to have the weekend to think about it, say something has come up and you need to take care of it and then try and move the other interview up to tomorrow.

Tell them your just looking at your options before any decisions are made. But it really depends on how big the business is.

You're in Antigua, your brother is ill, etc. Re-schedule the meeting for Monday.
