I saw an ad in the paper that the post office was hiring. So I called them and they said that they will send a packet of information, then you have to pay $140 to take a test. If you fail, you don't get your money back. If you pass, your test score determines how quickly you get an interview-then you get your money back. Is this the way it's done, or are we getting screwed by some good scammers?

My son is playing on an AAU baseball team and they are a non profit team with a tax exempt id number. Does that mean that any donation that I get for that team is tax deductible as defined by IRC section 501 © (3)??
Thanks in advance. I am trying to put together a sponsor letter but want to make sure that my info is accurate.
Thanks

Hi. I am planning on starting a non profit helping local children. There is no organization helping out with this specific problem locally so I expect many children will be in need of this service. I would need to devote 100% of my time to this and would continue running it for years to come. My question is about earning a salary. If I start it I will be the President of the the board since I have all the ideas to start. Since board members don't make a salary, can I also be CEO? How do I go about running the org and being able to pay my bills? I don't need info on how to start a non profit, just how I can run things and earn a salary. Thanks a lot.

I need to ask a big coorporate office to donate a vehicle for the use of a non-profit organization. The company requested a proposal, I've never written one myself, help. The vehicle is necessary to conduct communtiy education programs due to the large amount of material and sometimes equipment.

Here's a question for professional fundraisers: in your annual report, do you list donors for the amount they gave in that year, or do you list their total pledges? In other words, if someone has pledge $1,000 a year for five years, and made their first payment in 2006, would you list them in the $1,000 or $5,000 category? Please list the name of your institution or non-profit. Thank you!

I'm the founder and leader of a small Christian group that works with "at risk" children in the community. I have been doing this for 7 years and now I want to make it an organization (non-profit). I just don't know where or how to start. I have the idea, mission statement, concept of what is needed to function but not the knowledge of how to get it up and going. If you have any ideas please let me know.
Thanks

I asked this question before and only received one good answer. I did not elaborate on why. My job was outsourced to the Philippines (AOL). Responses varied from mowing lawns to prostitution (which is illegal), and joining the military. One idiot said they never heard the president say Americans won't do jobs that illegal immigrants would do (where have your been?). Unemployment benefits came and expired.

Mowing lawns will not pay my mortgage and feed my family. I am too old to join the military or I would (kinda tells you I'm too old for prostitution also). Someone said I was lazy, but I have a spreadsheet of 83 jobs I have applied for since Feb. I have had numerous interviews but with a B.A. and an M.A., employers say I am overqualified for even call center jobs or office assistant or administrator. The real reason is that they can hire HS grads for those jobs and some appear to be worried that if they hire me, I may be promoted to their jobs (hiring managers).

I am not lazy.

I hold a BS in Mathematics, and am currently a grad student studying Statistics.
My question is: Is there anyone who works in financial management, or budget analysis, and can tell me how much statistical methods are used on your projects at work?

Or, if you use statistical methods at work, but you are not in financial management, please let me know what type of work you do.

I have a friend/hero who enjoyed hell so much, she's taking a second trip! cafepress dot com fwd slash helpshellyan

Anyhow, I'm doing the great friend thing and I've reserved a nice big boat, with fabulous food and entertainment, we've got items autographed from all over the sports world to auction off and we're setting sail in late October for the night of her LIFE!

I even have a guy at the newspaper to write an article to help us sell these tix. The print vendor is in line and EVERYBODY is donating their efforts!

Then it hit me,.will the feds haunt us in April? Can the already taxed out of pocket donations be subject to additional tax for a dinner auction fundraiser?

I read briefly about Non-Profit Orgs and whatnot but this seems like a ridiculous expectation if I'm doing this as a one night help a friend gesture.

But, I'd never forgive myself if we raised 40k that night and every penny got spent on her meds and the feds came knocking on her door for 10k in April?
