I saw an ad in the paper that the post office was hiring. So I called them and they said that they will send a packet of information, then you have to pay $140 to take a test. If you fail, you don't get your money back. If you pass, your test score determines how quickly you get an interview-then you get your money back. Is this the way it's done, or are we getting screwed by some good scammers?

This ad was placed by a commercial company who sells info on taking the post office test. You do have to take a test, but you definitely don't have to go through them.

Yea it's a scam. You do have to take a test, and certain tests can cost money from what I know but not that much. I wouldn't recommend hoping for immediate success with a post office job. You start out as a casual employee which basically means you work whenever they want to work you. You have to work up to anything better.

Yes, they are trying to screw you.

This is not the post office -- it is a private company trying to screw you.
