I need to ask a big coorporate office to donate a vehicle for the use of a non-profit organization. The company requested a proposal, I've never written one myself, help. The vehicle is necessary to conduct communtiy education programs due to the large amount of material and sometimes equipment.

Proposal For Donation Sample

Start out with a rough draft - literally write down all the reasons why you need the vehicle and all the good reasons a company should donate one for this purpose (tax write off, positive community image, helping the group of people who are receiving the education and how it changes their lives, helping the worker/volunteer to be more efficient and affective in their work, etc). Then go over it with a fine tooth comb and polish it up. It doesn't sound like they are expecting a high-level executive summary...they just want the details of "what, where, when, how and why".
If you go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx you can download various templates to help get you started. Good luck!

There's some great resources on the internet. Here's a wonderful 'Guide for Writing a Funding Proposal' at:
http://www.learnerassociates.net/proposal/

Another one through the Foundation Center:

Charity Village has some wonderful resources, including a course on how to write a proposal at:
http://www.charityvillage.ca/cv/learn/cvcproposals.html

All the best in this worthwhile project!

Companies get a lot of proposals from charities and it's an extremely competitive business. If you're not a writer I would strongly suggest hiring and experienced proposal writer to do it freelance rather than do it yourself.
