i'm curious because i'm in-between accepting 2 jobs, in pretty much the same field but one is paid on salary and one is on hourly... when averaged out, they pay about the same yearly but i'm not sure if there are disadvantages/advantages to one or the other. what do you all suggest? any personal experiences? thank you.

Who can tell me what a simple IRA is? My boss says that I am elligble for one and she wants me to take advantage of it now because she's also giving me a pay raise and she says that now is a good time to do it. She said that what ever I take out that the company will match up to 3%. Is this a good idea? I'm not so good with numbers and taxes and things like that. I need some advice on this in simpler terms. Thanks...

Ok, I was hired by this Employment company to work at a group home part time. But in order to work this type of job, I had to take 3 different classes and become certified. Each class was one evening and about 3 hours. The classes were for stuff like CPR and other stuff... These classes are required by the state.

So anyways, after they said they hired me, they told me to take the classes, which I did. I completed all three of them last week.

Today I found out that the company wants me to wait until January 14th to start working.

Then I asked them when I will get my Certificates that I earned for each of the three classes I took, and they said they will hold onto them until I have worked for them for a certain length of time.

Can they do that?

I mean, I put my time into taking these classes. Yes, they paid for them, but still can they just keep my certificate that I have earned from the state? That's like blackmail, isn't it?

I just started a new job and at first, a lot of people were mean to me, none of them would bother to sit down and help me with training. I have a learning disability which cause people to think that I am not that intelligent. However, one co-worker was kind enough to really sit down with me and show me how things work. Now that I’m fully trained in my position, I strive to be the best. And I ALWAYS end up on the executive’s list of people to promote. I want to take the co-worker with me to the top but I don’t think she is up for such challenge. She is a single mother who is settled in her job and don’t have the time to burn the midnight oil.

I only been at my position for about a month and have already figured out a way to speed up production and cut operating time by nearly 50%. I will be presenting this to one of the executive’s at the end of the month. My only problem is that I do not want to out-shine the co-worker who have investing time in me. What shoud I do?

I'm a 25 year-old college graduate (Communications Degree) and would like to move my career in a direction that will allow me to do more writing/editing. I have been working for the last 2 years in an ad agency (Marketing Analyst, no "creative" opportunities at this agency). Even if I don't get paid (for now) and it's "on the side", I'd like to start getting some experience but am unsure of where to start. I know I could probably do free-lance, but not sure how to begin doing that either. Any suggestions or personal experience?

Ok i work in retail. I been working at my job for a year and half, and the district manager asked me if i wanted to be a assistant manager at another store,Of course i said yea.But he said that i would have to work with the other manager to see how we get along i guess. But in the mean time my current manager said that she would have to wait for coverage (More employees) but it's taking to long for me to get this position,if he really wanted me to move up in the company he would of transferd me already am i right? Anyway my husband told me that he would pay me $100 a week helping him with orders on his website (Family Business) And i was woundering should i take him up on his offer? that would save me money on paying daycare. I pay 150 a week for my daughter,i'm making just enough to pay it. But i really hate to quit. but i know i don't see myself working there forever, but i just hate the fact that i have to sit in the house all day. What should i do?

If I buy goods just to resell are there taxes i have to charge. What are the fees of a resale license. Do I have to file my year end taxes any differently? any help would be appreciated

Here are some ideas. I like animals, but i doubt if i get an animal job at 14! Maybe if they accept a 14 year old at petsmart, or petco. But maybe at McDonalds. I wouldn't mind working there. I want to go to a website to look up careers for 14 year olds. For good positions. What website should i go on?

For a while now, I've been thinking to major in History and probably become a College History Professor or a History Teacher in High School. But, I'm afraid about all the reading and writting that is involved with this major!!!

For the past few weeks or so, I've been also considering Forensics/ Biology as a possible major. I was like "I'm too 'disgusted' to do that stuff." But, after watching TV and that Show YOU SAVED MY LIFE, I saw how rewarding it is - and I'm afraid about majoring in that because I'm afraid I might not do too good in it or I might not enjoy it so much.

I'm also afraid about which one pays more - I'm afraid I won't get paid much as a Teacher and a Doctor or Biologist might get paid more!!!... I also want a satisfying career.

Please help!!! ... Advice like " Do what you love" and etc... Won't help me at all!!!

Also, I'm planning to attend a 4 Year University After High School - If I can afford it!
