My mother recently made an offer on an apartment building. While the deposit was in the mail, she stopped payment on the check and alerted her agent to cancel the offer. Well, the other party still wants to force my mother to keep the offer.

There's one problem: My mother's agent signed a document absolving her agent of liability.

Question: How does my mother get out of this one scott-free? I understand what she is trying to do is a bit, well, illegal; so there is no need to lecture me.

my shorthold tenancy ran out on the 22nd oct 06 with the rent at £425pcm. I received a letter from my landlady on 1st Dec 06 saying she was willing to offer me another 6 month tenancy beginning on 22nd Dec 06 but she was raising the rent to £550pcm. I was just wondering if she was allowed to do this. Help much appreciated.

Has anyone ever heard of this site? My best friend is trying to find a personal loan with bad credit. She came across this site in her internet search. Apparently, you pay to post a listing for a loan request and allegedly lenders may chose to help you based on your listing. I had never heard of this site prior to her mentioning it to me, and I can't seem to find any reviews on it anywhere. They claim to have been around for a while, but the only place I find any information on them is from their own site. If anyone has had any dealings with them, positive or negative, I would appreciate any feedback.

I am well aware of the Hope Credit, but the wording under the Hope Credit says that it can be used for tuition and related expenses. Can anyone help me out on this matter, I'm trying to use every tax break I can here. Any suggestion on if this is Ok, and if there is anything else I may use?

Bank of America Stole our money.

My hubby and I have a business checking account and a business creditcard with B of A. The credit card was a few months overdue, but we were going to call them shortly to start a payment schedule with them. One day last week I check the checking account and I noticed that a debit was there for all the amount of money we had in there, to the penny. Over a $1000.00. When we called they said that the credit card had taken a "payment" from us. We did not authorize any payment whatsoever though. In fact, after calling them for two days and being hung up on "accidentally" many times, a manager of some sort finally called us back to say he was very sorry but they should not have done that. There was NO paperwork at all to allow the creditor to do it. It was a big mistake and they were so very sorry but they couldn't get our money back. They basically handed our money away and denied any resposibility for their mistake. Who do we call?

With all the property being purchased and sold, One wonders how someone can justify charging outragous fee(s). I have purchased a home, and my alledged closing costs were almost 8,000.00!
Now either I am in the wrong profession, or someone is really making more than anyone else. Can someone explain it to me?
Is there any laws concerning what can and cannot be charged?
And just to think, It used to be a simple Handshake and sign one paper (a promissary note).

Lately when I go to Wal-Mart (especially), or fast food places all I get is rude associates! What happened to the smiling faces and "hi how are you today" and "have a nice day" All they do is tell me my total--No eye contact, no nothing! I worked in retail for 5yrs and friendly customer service was a must. No matter what was going on in my personal life--I didn't take it out on customers. I know how holidays are and all so I don't see why management lets them get away with it or why they hire these people int the first place! My question: Am I the only one annoyed by this?

My apartment's lease is up in February. I am looking for a place for just myself. I don't understand the whole process of buying a home/townhome/condo/loft, so the first thing I want to do is rent. But, people keep telling me I'm throwing away my money by renting.

So...what are your thoughts? What about the whole rent to own thing?

I'm on a bit of a time crunch. Is buying a home time consuming? If so, should I go straight for the rent to own thing or just stick with renting for now until I figure it all out?

Where do I start with owning my own home? Do I have to already have lots of money?
