We're currently in the process of selling our house. We are now in week 6 since we accepted an offer on our house. The buyers (who are not in a chain) have had a homebuyers report done on our house and a few major problems came up so we agreed to reduce the price by £2000 as long as we're in for christmas. But I had a letter through from our agent this week saying the agreed price with the condition that contracts are exchanged and completion in the new year. This is not what I meant! I have rang them but she said I had said exchange contracts by christmas. I must have told her 4 times we wanted to be in our new house for christmas! Now the buyers say they are happy to exchange contracts the week before christmas but not complete until the 20th Jan as they are on holiday!! That will mean we'll have to wait a month. The place we're moving into is vacant and we're desperate to move in. My solicitor has said he'll try and re-negotiate an earlier date. What can I do?

I am worried that the recent and expected future increases in the cost of borrowing will hit me hard, as I have a reasonably large mortgage.

Are we trying to control inflation by adjusting the interest rate, to control house prices, which if they spiral out of control, will mean larger wage demands and drive up inflation.

Surely we should be controlling immigration and making more housing available (making more building land available), this will reduce demand and therefore prices, and save us all having to pay more for our mortgages (as the BoE increases interest rates to keep prices in check).

If the BoE keeps putting up interest rates, we'll all demand higher wages anyway, to pay the mortgages we already have!

Teller position. I like the bank position b'cause the hours are better. I have never worked in a bank but I have tons of retail experience. I'm pretty sure the pay would be about the same starting out. Both would have benefits (but I really don't have to use them as I'm on my husband plan). Could anyone offer advice or opinion? Thanks.
