Teller position. I like the bank position b'cause the hours are better. I have never worked in a bank but I have tons of retail experience. I'm pretty sure the pay would be about the same starting out. Both would have benefits (but I really don't have to use them as I'm on my husband plan). Could anyone offer advice or opinion? Thanks.

You really need to think about what you'd like to do 5 years down the road. With most retail, you would have to work weekends and evenings, banks, this is rare. However, if you are more interested in being out in the retail area - you should pick that.

I am gonna go with assistant manager post. It has much better growth prospects. How? you will be getting experience in leadership and the retail industry is growing and requiring more and expansion by the day so your management experience in that field will do you good in the long run.

we are replacing most of the time we spent going to the bank with electronic means, we are so knowledgeable that we no more approach the bank with $500k in a pockets asking the bank to recommend on what we should do with our money...we consult specialists and approach the bank having made up our mind and that doesn't mean good long term growth with the bank teller job.

I suggest you take on the challenge of working long hours knowing that in say 2yrs or so you can make a career move that might even be printed in the papers.

Good Luck!

Me? They probably call me MUCH worse behind my back because I turned those b@stards into the Attorney's General's Office for violating certain consumer protection laws and, LOL, now when I tell them that they're making a mistake they listen. Never try to bait and switch a Top Contributor.

Do the assistant manager. If nothing else it looks better on the resume and you can list how many people you supervised. Leadership is a good thing to have.
