Hi, I am trying to learn about trading standard options- calls/puts. I am unsure of which ot use in what situation. I want to use options to catch daily swings.

Example:
I wanted to buy an option on Google when it hit around 500 a share the other day because I knew it was going to drop. I just joined Tradeking.com to use for options. I could choose a call or put and at several different strike prices.

Which should I have used and at what strike price if I was shooting for a downturn in the stock price?

I'm in Vancouver, BC. I would like to work out of a home based kitchen...but understand that if I want to SELL anything food related, I need not only a 'commercial kitchen' but foodsafe...and then someone said something about the kitchen I use for business having to be separate from my 'home kitchen' - which would be incredibly annoying!
I don't know if it would be feasible to work out of my home... or if I might as well rent a commercial space to work out of... Any loopholes?? technically its not illegal to give away cakes... so maybe I can give them away, but charge the customers for "something else", like chocoholics 'counseling services' ahah.

My monthy payments are outrageous so I can barely afford it. My credit is horrible which is the reason the interest is so high. The car is only a few years old, but I owe several thousand more than it's worth.

I noticed a high turn over rate where I work. Also I have noticed that some of my previous full time employers are using strictly part time labor because they don't have to pay them any benefits. If this trend is true is it bad news for the labor force? I am talking about semi-skilled and skilled labor. It appears that our work force is being reduced to the level of peasant labor.

I graduated from law school and am a newly licensed attorney in my state, but at this time, the idea of being a lawyer does not interest me. I'm particularly interested in lobbying, however, because my presumptions are that it provides for more interaction with others, allows me to affect decision-making of others, and potentially provides for more immediate gratification (as opposed to the drawn-out cat-and-mouse game of litigation). Can anyone provide any further insight into this field and how I could potentially get involved in it, not on a voluntary basis but on a professional level? A further presumption is that this field relies heavily on who you know.

Would any of the following methods work? do you have any other suggestions?

1.) Sell rooms separatly (staircasing) insuring that the profit from each room was too small to atract tax.

2.) Giving house away as gift & receiving gift from buyer.

3.) Doing cosmetic damage, selling the rights to the house above market value then undoing damage.

4.) sell house below cgt threshold on condition that buyer also purcheses fixtures & fittings at seperate extortionate cost.

5.) starting a sole trader estates agent (in britain there hardly regulated at all) and valuing your property below cgt level, selling at market value & taking rest under table

I don't understand. To sell to open a call contract is to take a short position, correct? So why is my online brokerage telling me I need to own the stock in order to sell a call to open?

Are all brokers like this?

I have a declared interest in this one - I work in supply chain security. I'm supposed to know all the answers but manifestly I don't. Is it dirty bombs in sea freight containers? Is it general stupidity allowing another group of hijackings like 9/11? Will it be coercion by kidnap. Where will be the hotspots? I'd really like to see what other people think. Even, are we taking it too far (my feeling is probably yes in we're applying it with a trowel and not using our intelligence to target risk).

I see, almost daily, new supply chain security initaitives - and they're all very similar, very onerous, very bureaucratic and definitely one-size-fits-all. What would be a better approach? Do we need security at all?

Love to hear from you!
