I only seem to notice this when I’m in a hurry; a grocery store (or any other for that matter) will have, like, 8 check-out lanes but only 3 or 4 of them open at any given time. This is particularly annoying at Target or Wal-Mart when they have somewhere around 20+ check-out lanes but only have a single-digit number of them open, even if the store is packed with customers. Why is that? Do they not have enough employees to man all the cash registers? Are they trying to get the customers to stay as long as possible so they’ll find more things to buy? Are they actual evil and diabolical and intentionally try foil people’s schedules for no good reason? I just don’t get it!

I was terminated from my job 3 weeks ago and i filed for unemployment online. When i finally recieved a letter from unemployment last saturday it said it was denied because i did not make enough money during the quarter of jul-sep. However i noticed they only listed 2 places were i have worked for the past 18mos. Not the last place i worked at. So i spoke with my boyfriend he said that the same thing happened to him and he to refile his claim and get a letter of termination from his last employer, but they jerked him around about it so he gave up. However, i wont give up because i have emailed the HR dept several times about this document but no response. However i do have letters of termination of my benefits and i have emails and documents about my hire date. I dont know if that would be sufficient enough. I tried to call the unemployment office but all i got was an automated service about the documents i need like ID's and past employment in the last 18mos. I plan on going

I live in upstate NY. TW just bought out the ONLY competition within 100 miles of us for broadband cable internet and tv, Adelphia. They doubled the prices on all the services.

Whats worse is I cant get verizon DLS where I am anymore, because 'we're too far away from the central office'.

Isnt anyone else sick of getting butt raped by industrial pirate companies like this? Why dont people band together and boycott... or complain or SOMETHING.

Its just so wrong on so many levels. 56 dollars a month for standard cable. WTF?

lls. I got behind when I had to decide on paying the doctor treating me or my credit card bills, (I opted to pay the doc) so I could get good care. Once that happened, I got slammed with late fees, which took me over into over limit fees, and a whole bunch of other nonsense. I stopped paying, couldn't deal with it and the treatments. Now I am better, and while I have not returned to work, am hoping to soon. I have these bills from the credit card companies, but now they are so ridiculous, I can't hope to ever pay them back. I know I messed up, but I feel I really had no choice but to do what I did, and now I want to pay these off and move on with the rest of my life. Whats a good way to start? Should I try and negotiate these bills down to what I actually owed? Or am I stuck paying these ridiculous fees they have slapped all over it? 1 company turned a $250 debt into over $2000. Anyone who can help or been there and came out of it, please feel free to help! Thank you!

What bank offers the most free features. I want a free checking account, where I don't need to maintain a minimum balance or have direct deposit. I want all ATM usage free, with not surcharge of other banks. Free checks for life would help, also I want zero fraud liability. I don't care in what state the bank is.

im thinking of transferring my credit card balance to another card, what is currently the best deal, as far as a default of 20.0% APR or less? I have only seen a 32% APR on CITI bank for example but thats not a good deal in my book.

I am trying to get an apartment but here's the thing, no credit. I've always handled things with cash, that, and I didn't have a steady job to handle a credit card at the time. I figured them to be more trouble then it was worth but now I find myself wanting a place of my own and with places doing credit checks it will be difficult to obtain a place of residence without credit. I know I can get a credit card now but I'd have to spend with it and it wouldn't show up on my card in time in order for a proper check to take place so I was wondering if there was other measures I could do like speak to someone directly about this in order to obtain a place that does not include sharing with a roommate, though I'm sure that requires a check as well. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you.

The company I used to work for has just asked me to train a third person for my old position. The owner of the company cannot even train these people himself because he doesn't know the computer/accounting system. I am the only person in the world that can train his new employee and frankly I am getting tired of being in this position, so I am going to propose to my old boss that I will develop a very detailed training manual that will go over absolutely every aspect of the job step by step, so that from now on he can just go through the training manual with the new employee instead of begging me to train them, again.

How much would you say is a fair amount to charge for creating this training manual? It will take me approx. 2 weeks I figure, and that's working on it for a good 8 hours a day. I am thinking maybe $750 - $800 CAD.

My parents (mostly my mom) are thinking about buying a home next time we move. We were wondering if there were any important questions we should be asking since this is our-well their- first time purchasing a home. We may be moving to Washington state if that information has any weight on the questions we should be asking.
