I live in upstate NY. TW just bought out the ONLY competition within 100 miles of us for broadband cable internet and tv, Adelphia. They doubled the prices on all the services.

Whats worse is I cant get verizon DLS where I am anymore, because 'we're too far away from the central office'.

Isnt anyone else sick of getting butt raped by industrial pirate companies like this? Why dont people band together and boycott... or complain or SOMETHING.

Its just so wrong on so many levels. 56 dollars a month for standard cable. WTF?

Boycotting is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. You have to decide you really don't need what you are boycotting. Companies don't really care if you buy their stuff or not, they get other customers. There are laws against monopolies that were enacted back in the 30's. Ma Bell was split up 20-some years ago, but She back together again. (SBC's buy out of ATT) As long as we "need" the technology, we will suffer the consequences.

nicely, for one factor, Adelphia replace into bankrupt simply by fact it replace into robbed by skill of its owners and its components have been bought to pay off a number of its funds owed. Time Warner didnt purchase the entire factor. Secondly, whinge on your community politicians. They grant "franchise" rights to an unique cable provider on your area. In replace, the cable organization will pay your community community a undeniable volume of greenbacks. to that end, your community politicans create the monopoly willingly, and make it impossible for all of us else to compete. I lived in a city the place city ended up construction its very own competing cable/internet/telephone provider. Its fee replace into way much less, and Time Warner had to drop their fee critically to have a gamble. That city now has the backside fees in my total state (Ohio). those have been some politicans that had the marvelous hobbies at coronary heart- the human beings's.

I have abandoned TV altogether. If I want the news, I go on the internet. I prefer to make my own choices in what I watch; therefore, I use an Internet movie rental source. Gatekeepers choose what is acceptable to be watched on television including cable networks and make us pay for that junk. DUMP CABLE PERMANENTLY!!!

Well you can say that I've done my part in boycotting the monopolies!! I don't watch TV at all. Try it out! Do something else with your time! Freedom from all the mind numbing crap fed to the unsuspecting public.
