i have a leak in the gas pipes in my apartment that effected the whole line,con ed said it is the landlords?

reponsibilty 2 fix it i have been without gas for a month can i deduct it from my rent??

Your landlord must first be officially notified of the condition and then given a reasonable opportunity to repair it.

Not all states allow repair and deduct. You will need to look up your local law.

If your landlord is doing nothing, call your local housing inspector or building inpector. They will issue a violation and fine, and he will have to make the repair pronto.

First of all the utility company has a responsibility to fix it who pays for it is an issue of the landlord tenant act in your state and your lease agreement. I'm pretty sure that it's going to be the landlords reponsibility

Go to your towns or cities officials. They will go after the landlord and fine him if he does not correct it if it is his responsibility. I know in Jersey if there is a problem with a gas line I would call PSE@ G and they would come out and fix it, no charge. I had a small leak and I called them and they came out immediately.

It's the landlord's obligation if you have properly notified him. If he refuses, you can have it fixed and deduct it from the rent, or if it is too costly, it's your grounds for terminating your lease. You can't just not pay rent though.
