I need to write a business proposal for my custom jewelry business as an assignment for class. The instructor is requiring us to find 5 sources of information from only .gov, .edu, or .org sites. In 1986 my mother passed away suddenly with no individual will - only my parents' joint will. This year my father sold all of her land (for $85k) in Louisiana (we live in MS) with the plan of paying the capital gains tax and giving the proceeds to all of us, his children (who would then pay taxes too being over $11k). According to Louisiana law (Napoleanic code?), since there was no will, the proceeds of the sale go to the children - all now in their 40s not the spouse. Each will get about $27k. My question is, in April of '07, on my '06 taxes, will this be counted as a tax-free (I think if under $2 million) inheritance or will I need to get a record of its appraised price in '86 and pay capital gains tax on the proceeds using a cost basis on the price difference from '86 to '06?

I had my id and cheque book stolen a couple of months ago.
these people managed to take me for a substantiale amount of money also my bank acct. is now overdrawn and I am liable for the overdraft, I also lost my life insurance policy due to thios and many other various problems as a result. I reported this incident to the police but they rtell me that this is not a priority to them and it could take up too 5 years before they get around toi it that tey are backloged, and the bank tells me that they opnly keep video survalance for so long. Through thwe grape vine I have found out who the people involved are what should I do I really really rerally want to deal with this matter myself but I have turned over a new leaf and cant act the way I used to in the past Please help me!!!!

I am having trouble with the Equifax Credit Bureau.They are not updating my current address on my credit file though I applied for credit from my new address which eventually changed the address on my credit file in Experian and Transunion.I also have faxed them a proof of my current address with a copy of my photo ID and also a letter clearly requesting them to update my address.I am having a lot problem lately for renting a car or leasing an apartment and almost everything that involves a credit check and every commercial organization request a credit report from Equifax which in my case they are not able to get because of the outdated address on my file.

OK, I kind of destroyed my credit when I was younger. I lived off credit cards and didn't pay things on time. I moved around allot too and honestly, I don't know how much I owe and to who, what’s in collections, and how bad my credit is. Now that im older and more responsible I really want to fix it. Are there any reputable places that do debt consolidation? I’m looking for a company that will find out what I owe, negotiate w/ them, and give me a monthly payment. I appreciate any help I can get.
