which hair products should i use to style my faux hawk, so that it doesn't look shiny/wet when the gel hardens. is hair spray a better method? how to's will be helpful

i have redish brown hair just past my shoulders. i usually part it in the middle or slightly to one side. i'm so tired of the same old boring hair that sits there and does nothing. i want to have "exciting" hair if you know what i mean. if you have any suggestions as to how i should cut/style my hair please tell me. the easier the better!

mah hair is really really straight..and i curl mah hair but with the curl cubes..the problem is that my curls don't mantain curly..like after few hours mah curls don't ecxist..whas hould i do?? if ur hair is str8 and u make it curly..how u do it or have u heard bout maken hair curly??
