I have a black hair on the side of my neck (gross, I know) and want to know if I pluck it, will two more grow back? Or is that just an old wives tale?

Thats an old wives tale. Its true for shaving though that if you shave then the hair will grow back thicker because it splits the hair so multiple hairs grow out of one folicule. However even with shaving if you take the whole hair root and all through waxing or plucking then the hair starts all over again with its origional thickness.... and sometimes wont grow back. Pluck away!

It's just an old wive's tale. Otherwise people wouldn't get their legs waxed! (it's basically the same thing as plucking, just a lot of hairs at once) Pluck that hair and feel better about your neck. :-)

No it won't grow back as two! I pluck my eyebrows 2 times a week and they never grow back as two!! Now if you shave them they'll grow back as two and with time as three and four, so don't ever shave it!! What I suggest you do is wax the hair on your neck. It's faster and you only get to feel the pain once plus with waxing it'll take a whileeeeee before it grows back.

Not true. I have a strand of hair that grows out from the bottom of my chin. I keep plucking and it keeps coming back, but it doesn't multiply.
However, the same thing is said about gray hairs, if you pull one gray hair out, two more grow back. I don't' know if that is FACT, but I personally, am more inclined to believe it about gray hairs. LOL. :)

Wives tale. Not true at all. Pluck all you want, wax, tweeze whatever...just get rid of it lol

leave it alone we all got hair in wierd places if you do that then you have to keep doing that until you are dead PLUS it will grow back more and then you will have to keep plucking more if you CANT live with it wax it like every other day

That myth only goes for gray hairs. Tweezing does it for a while.
