There is clear evidence of chromatic aberation in the form of the dreaded purple fringe. I have placed a red dot at each end of the fringe where it appears in this photo, which is identical to "Osprey in Tower," immediately adjacent to this shot my photostream.

The sun was somewhat low in the sky. You can tell the direction of the light by the highlights on the bird's chest and by seeing which sides of the tower steel are lit.

Fringe appears at high contrast interfaces, so I'd like to know why it is on the lit edge of the steel in some spots and on the shaded side in others, including along the Osprey's back.

Would a better lens have the same problem under similar conditions or would the fringe go away?

f/5.6 is the maximum aperture for this 70-300 VR lens at the shooting length of 300 mm.

Thanks for you help.

I'm confused on where to purchase the film needed for a pinhole camera. I live in Massachusetts and really haven't seen any nice camera stores.

Anyone have any tips on pinhole cameras that most people don't think about trying or doing ?

I already looked at these guys: http://www.chicagophoto.org/newweb/index.php and they were FAR too expensive. Any other suggestions? I also looked at the Chicago Park District, but they either don't have any spots right now, or I have to wait until Sept. 24th to sign up, I wasn't sure from their website.

Which one is better? Which one do you recommend? I'm thinking about taking a digital photography class or maybe a regular photography class. Can someone just give me some information and advice because I have cameras for both but I dont know which one would be more fun.. etc etc. Any information will be helpful.

*Please no comments on just picking which one I like. I'm not sure yet so I'd like some information. THANKS!!

You know the token by the window light - as in beautiful tokens.

So I have a liking (i feel all warm and happy just thinking about it) for those loverly shots of people in daylight difussed through glass windows.

I had a shot of a young girl (one of my y/a friends daughter) shot beside a large window. Its not that sharp and not smoothly soft either, cropped tight its really (what word to use) tranquil in look. It has qualities (emotional, as opposed to technical blah blah) I usually only see in B+W, yet its ordinary digi colour.

So anyway Medium light source is where I'm going here: what are your methods for achieving pleasing to outstanding medium light source images using manmade light, ok I will ask that another way.

How do you like to create a medium light source not using the sun.

Thanks all, answer the question or describe images that impressed you with medium, window or manmade etc.

Hi everyone.
I m a bit confused about this copyright thing. Im thinking to take some photos that i can sell on istock or similar sites. My question is : can i sell photos of brand items as long as i remove or crop their logo from the photo?
I c alot of pictures of phones and ipods and laptops, but they have no logos or they are cropped a certain way or blurred a way that u can that that the item is a ipod for example, but the logo is not showing. Can i sell photos like that? I dont wanna thing that all those photos in istok are displaying custom made fake products that resamble the original one. Anyone know about this?

I've been given the chance to be signed up by a really good modelling company for women with curves. What they've asked me to do is to submit a final "full length photo of you smiling". I need to do this in the next couple of days. I feel really nervous as I'm so close to being signed by them I don't want to mess things up now. It is in the UK.

This is something I'd love to do but does anyone have any tips of how a photograph will come off best? Particular colours or looks.

Much appreciated

Like how tungsten light bulbs give off a more orange-ish glow as opposed to purely white light, is this the same for halogen?

I figured the Photography Section would be the best place to ask this because I believe lighting and the spectrum and such, etc, is something most professional photographers would know.

I am looking to upgrade my camera and I am just wondering what camera you use or would recommend purchasing. It would be mostly for my children at the moment, have really taken an interest in photography and would like to span out and start taking professional pictures eventually (children, maternity, weddings, etc). I have a couple of courses I am looking into, and need to hone my skills, but I would like to start off and get familiar with a GOOD camera. Any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Ive tried DPreview, had a look around,

heres a link http://www.amazon.com/Canon-1Ds-Mark-III-Digital/dp/B000V5LX00/ref=sr_1_6/103-6632904-9598204?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1187517273&sr=1-6

Any info would be good or even if you just want to share my dream (when i sell everything i own and mortgage the car) of welding one at a target, what do you think? would it be ok for my myspace pictures?

Should canon have supplied a better picture, it looks a bit transparent.

Answer A or B or both.

Question A: Can you make ratio shots in the camera? - answer if you know what it means

Question B: Whats the time ratio you spent on "taking" a shot and "editing" it later?

do you spent a minute "taking" the shot then 60 minutes playing with it in the computer? That would be a ratio of 1:60.

Personally Im at the other end up to 60 minutes making an image in the camera and a minute or so in the computer. So that would be 60:1. See how you go with this.
