What software if any is needed? I just want to display a picture of her artwork one "slide" at a time... not exactly like a video....for example I want to display image 1 for 30 seconds, then image 2 for 30 seconds and so on....

if you are a windows user, you can use a movie maker from windows. its free software if you are use an original windows.

if you are a mac user, u can use imovie, its also free bundle with mac x if you buy a new macbook or imac.

both of this software easy to use.

First, you need to get a model's release before you display anyone else's artwork. Their art is copyrighted material and you can not simply display their art without their permission, hence the release. Second, this is too complex a subject to answer here. I just did a search using the phrase "display a slideshow using javascript" and came back with a wealth of hits. One was entitled "Web-Based Image Slideshow using JavaScript By Kaushik Baruah. A simple tutorial illustrating how to create web-based image slideshow with some cool transition effects." (link below) which sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for. I think the easiest way to do this is to use Windows Movie maker which you will have on your computer. You can use the 'add pictures' option which enables you to place stills on the story board. You choose how long they are 'on screen'. When you have added all the pictures you need choose 'make video' and when that has been don export to YouTube
