I have been interested in knowing how to achieve the effect of film on a picture.

I have tried to google photoshop tutorials but it is hard to find the specific one.

What programs do the art or media people use in the film industry to achieve a very saturated yet clean look on an image.

All the pictures I take are really "raw" real and so I would like to achieve the effect without damaging the quality of the image.

Any good suggestions? Any good tutorials? Any good program? What do professionals use to create those great images in billboards and CD covers?

here is an example: Did these pictures were taken out of the original film and then retouched or are they taken with a camara and then retouch?

I just bought a cannon A640 for a trip I'm taking to Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights. I can program a few custom settings into my camera. What do you think would be the best settings to setup?

It has a lot of options.

I'm not using special kind of camera just a Canon PowerShot A530 and I was just wondering what you guys thought of these pictures. I am trying to get some money together to get a better camera but this is all i have for now. They probably aren't the best but I was just trying it and wanted to see what others thought.

I have a digital photo I wanted printed, taken on an Canon EOS model camera. The print is for my Dad for his Birthday, and I want it too look good.

I have used the "digital printing services" in places like Jessops and Boots for other photos, however I find they often get the levels wrong, often too dark, or the colours are slighty out. So I'm looking for a professional printers who can print the photo as it looks.

Any help or suggestion on places to try would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W55, and I've been told that I can get up to a 15 second exposure with it on "manual" mode. But I can't find where to change the exposure time (I'm not sure if "shutter speed" is the same thing).

How neutral are neutral density filters? I mean, would they work with infrared and ultraviolet photography the same way they work with visible light photography? Infrared photography is nothing new, so I hope this isn't something that's just been overlooked.

I became interested in the photo by Lange of the Migrant Mother.

I would love to read some article, criticism, or opinions on it but I can't seem to find any.

Does anybody know of any website or known criticism of this photo?

I've been into photography for almost two years now, but I've only read or learned anything about it recently.

I've got a basic grip on exposures, f-stops, shutter speed, etc. etc. but I still want to know more.

Can you suggest any books for me at the level I'm currently at? Anything that might come to mind as "essential".

I'm not exactly the artistic type and I don't have any expensive photographic equipment. However, I've been thinking about getting into photography as a hobby - using a digital camera, not film. I currently have a 5.0 MP camera with a 3x optical zoom. I've played around a bit with the various features and learned how to take decent pictures in various conditions. And I do have a decent tripod.

I guess one of my main questions is whether I should immediately try to buy a digital SLR camera or if the one I have would be adequate to start.

And once I am taking pictures, are there specific subjects or concepts I should focus on. Or is it more just getting out there and taking pictures?
