I liked to go to Overton Park. That city is filled with parks and though it has been a few years, I enjoyed the park that had the Japanese bridge in it.
I also found taking pictures on Beale Street and the main street that paralleled the river made some good shots. Look for things that others don't look for. One of my fav orite photos was taken between two theaters on the street that paralleled the river, there was a barge in the river and I wanted that, but the picture that I ended up with was a high contrast black and white of two fire escapes that happened to come together at the same point in the picture, giving some interesting abstracts.

Start with your home. You could easily spend a month or so shooting some very interesting pictures just of the place where you live.
Next go outside.
Next go down the block.
In other words, there are no places in Memphis, or anywhere else, for that matter, where you can't find an interesting shot if you only look for it.
Use different angles. Play with depth of field. Shoot the squirrels, birds, insects, etc. in your yard, your neighbor's yard, the nearest park. Look for the dew dancing in the sunlight on a spider's web at sunrise.
Finding a good place to take pictures is only limited by your imagination.

The Peabody Hotel. Graceland (the grounds are beautiful). Also, I like the view of and from the bridges crossing the river into Arkansas.
