Okay, so I know how to draw them , but they're stylized and in black in white. I use Max 2 oil paints. How do I make them look in motion? Also, how does skin look when it's being burned? I'm painting a portrait of myself being burned alive. I know it sounds weird.

I've never commissioned one of my paintings before. It was done on 16x20in canvas (if that effects anything). Any suggestions would be really helpful. :)

Years ago in Miami, Florida, my husband did some work for an artist by the name of Glyn Jones, and was paid with a painting. The painting is named "Polynecius" and is based on a Greek myth. It is dated 1974. For the last couple of years I have been trying to find something about this artist, but have had no luck. I wonder if he is the same Glyn Jones who created "Dr. Who"? (I know that he was also an artist.) He spoke with a British accent and was married to a woman named Myra at the time. Does anyone know anything about this artist? Thanks.

What are some good ways to thin down acryllics. I want them thinner but not watery. The set was a gift and the paint is in small toothpaste looking tubes. Do I have to gesso the canvas or can I leave it plain. I know the texture will show through, and thats ok, but will it be any problems?

If you're browsing the web or in a market and come across oil paintings; what would make you stop and consider purchasing? Price? Subject? For yourself? or as a gift?

I'm just learning to paint. If I see a photograph in the newspaper or magazine that I'd like to paint, is it cheating to try to copy it, or use it for inspiration?

When using acrylic paint, do you apply a base color first, or do you work around things?
Also, are there any suggested paintbrushes that would be good to work with?
Thanks

Any suggestions will be very helpful here. I have not seen the print, it has only described to me. I am looking to find the artist and find out where would be a good place to look. The way that it was described to me was that it was an abstract piece of a large butterfly. One wing of the butterfly was very colorful, as femine. The other wing was of stone, as masculine. The body of the butterfly there was a male and female heads that were about to kiss. Any help would be great.
thank you

The 3 paintings I have are oils on canvas: ones a profile of an African American woman; the other 2 or a fruit bowl and a vase with flowers. The paintings are not bright but muted in tones of red, brown, and, beige.

You can see it on the Yahoo "most emailed photos" section. The guy paints portraits in the nude using his "male member." I don't know what is worse...That someone would try to earn a living that way or that someone would actually pay to have a portrait done that way. I mean ewwww!

Your thoughts?
