have an original silk screen painting that folds and has four sections. My father bought it when he was in the vietnam war for a lot of money and in the 80's it was appraised at $5000. 20 years later I have the painting but it has holes in the fabric (2 clean cuts actually). Does anyone know where I might be able to look for this painting on the net or where I might find an appraisal in the Panama City Beach, FL area. I found one appraisor here but she has to do extensive research to find info which means......a huge cost to me. I do not wish to pay this if I can find an appraisor whom knows about this sort of painting beforehand. And yes, I am selling it when I finally get a few appraisals. I'm willing to drive to get this taken care of. I also can take pictures for those that know about foreign art. Thanks.

I know he later sold it to the King of France. But the King was not his original client. Are there websites that discuss this?

It's inspired by the poem "Alone" and shows a man on a mountainside looking at a demon-shaped cloud. Any leads would be appreciated.

I've started to dabble in painting with oils. I'm not great but would like others to see my work to pass opinion, not neccesarily to buy but that would be an added bonus! What's a good way?

I think that it was supposed to be Christ and the dove represented the Holy Ghost and was depicted coming out of Christ, but there was definate spittal depicted in the painting. It is a large painting and if I remember correcltly it was displayed ths past June near a stairway in the Louvre, but I can't find it in the Louvre's database

I do landscaping, birds and nature. I've painted 15 different birds and at least 35-40 different landscapes. So far I have given some away and have some I've put for sale in Indianapolis.

Back in the early 90s, I worked with an attorney who introduced me to the work of an artist who (at least at that time) was creating paintings that depicted businessmen in suits in violent scenes.

The two I remember clearly were (1) two men in dark blue suits fistfighting... one guy had the other by the tie and they were pummeling each other, and (2) a man hanging by his necktie, as if by a noose.

I can't remember the artist's name, so I'm hoping someone can help me. I know if I hear the correct name, I'll know it. As I recall, his wasn't a common surname.

I could easily be mistaken, but I seem to recall the artist's name being something like Borko or Boiko or Bierko or something along those lines.

Can anyone help me with this one?

Does anyone know a specific body of artwork by Jackson Pollock which has engaged in American ideas and values?

If so, how?

Also, does any of his work relate to any American philosophies?
Thanks a lot!

I have been trying out a premixed "flesh tint" but I find that it has too much red in it.

I also like to use just plain lemon yellow tinted with white, but that can give off a green glow.

What are your favorites? Which pure colors or mixes?

And which colors do you like to use for shadow. I like lamp black, but was thinking of playing with some raw or burnt umber.

I've painted a scene featuring the Cornish landscape to remind me of home, but now it's up on my wall I've decided the background fields are too bright. Although I trained in art, my specialism wasn't painting and I'm not entirely sure how to lessen the impact. I was thinking about a very pale white wash over it so it looks a little misty. It won't be a problem to do as I used acrylics and I tend to just hang the whole canvas straight on the wall. Suggestions gratefully received!
