The Art World is right here in London - Barnsley is not exactly famous for it's galleries. It's fame is of the Industrial Revolution.

From the short description of your work, I think your first port of call here in London should be Westminster [Catholic] Cathedral. You could try going on line and contact someone there. Maybe they will want to see your work[s].

London is an open minded multi-cultural city in the truest sense and meaning of the words. Anything goes, including religious works of art, great mosques, cathedrals, [yes, we've got 2, St Paul's [Anglican] and Westminster [Catholic]].

The National Gallery on Trafalgar Square have lots of religious works - why not give them a buzz too, see what they think. Don't ask, won't get!

If you don't like the 'idea' of London [Londinium], try this site at Liverpool : -

WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL The official site of the primary Catholic Cathedral in England and Wales includes a brief history and tour of the Byzantine-style building, ...

I always think of Westminster Cathedral as Greek/Byzantium in it's style - reminds me of our best ever Roman Govenor, H.E. Constantine the Great - first Christian Emperor of Roma.

Try the French Protestants here in London at this site : -

Finally - if all else fails - get in touch with Westminstere City Corporation and see if you can rent a Sunday space/plot on the railings along the north end [Piccadilly] of Green Park. Lots of artworks sold here - most of it bloody good. You'll also meet lots of other artists - who knows, even get to join a colony. Try this link and click through : -

GOOD LUCK.

Yes I think I might be able to help you out. The criticism you've gotten is really a complement to your subject and maybe even to you as an artist. Let me give you an example of a sunject just like you've explained here. you've chosen to depict stations of the corss, a subject so objective that there jay very well be as many opinions as there are people who even understand the Idea and those opinons define what the present "acceptable state of mind" is as per the subject matter whereas, "angels" might be a subject matter that goes along with the basic premise of the "stations" of the cross without interferring in what someone thinks of Christ. This subject you've chosen really attests to your ability to make someone feel emotional or that he or she has been pushed to a point of feeling emotional. Good for you. Despite the fact that your subjest matter is a subject that can be divisive?....all the best galleries will carry some religious materials as art because there is inded a market for it. Keep painting, before long you'll either be rich or you'll have top move somwhere else so nobody tries to assasinate you,....In either case, you've just managed to examplfy your ability ot make someone react and thats alot more than most artists do. good luck to you in your endeavors

By the way you have said that "in barnsley where i live have been told that its too controversial to hang in there galleries". This suggests you have only tried galleries that are run/controlled by the local authority.

Why not try some local privately run places. I know in Newcastle which isn't too far away there are plenty of places that exhibit controversial or challenging art. You could try 'The Baltic' for more advice at: http://www.balticmill.com/contact/index.php

Alternatively have you thought about setting up your own website and post it on there
