My walls are bright white, and the floor is a rich dark mahogony. This print will be the only thing hanging on the walls.
I was thinking about a large Edward Hopper, but I am unable to find anyone who can supply the right size [approx 2m x 1m]. Any suggestions much appreciated, of what will look good, or where to buy large prints?

I'd really like to start buying some paintings for my home, but I don't really know where to start looking. I'd only have up at maybe £1,000 to spend on something right now and would like something really nice for that. How's the best way to spot talent - or do I have to keep going with trial and error?

I'm new to painting. I recently tried paining a 11x14 stretch cotton canvas one color (green). As I was painting, I noticed that the paint would not spread evenly. Instead, it would be thicker at some points then thinner at others leaving it dark and light after drying. I did not mix the acrylic paint with anything, just used it straight out of the tube. Any tips or help would be appreciated.

I was looking at buying a painting, from http://www.overstockart.com , I noticed that they use oils in their paintings instead of acrylics, what's the difference, between oils and acrylics? What are the other materials that are used for paintings?

Before I begin learning to paint with oil and/or acrylic, does anyone know the real drying times? Books I've read (acrylic) say fast, pretty fast, really fast and so on.
Thanks,
