I have a painting on a flat canvas that is being used as a dining room rug. It is worn out and we would like to get a new one. The name on the painting is Daniel S. Malone. I can't seem to find him on the internet...any help of where I might be able to search would be much appreciated. Thank you!

It's an old seventies style painting and would like to paint over it, becasue it has a good frame and canvases are expensive. Is there a way I could reuse it and paint over it?

I posted some prints for sale of some of my paintings on etsy.com, but I've been getting requests from people who want the real thing. How much should I charge for an oil painting (let's say 18"x 18"x 1")? I don't want to go too high -- but I definitely don't want to go too low. what about acrylic or mixed media?? thanks ;-)

What are the benefits and/or harm of painting (with oils) on unstretched canvas? And, if I paint on this now, is it possible to stretch it later without hurting the painting?

I bought 6 yards (by 53 inches) of this canvas a month ago, not realizing it was already primed (idiotic me...), and now it's too late to return it. And I'm a bit lazy to go through the work of stretching it, since I usually count on the gesso to do most of the work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jan Vermeer
c. 1670

Art Gallery of Wynn, Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada

(Once property of the late Baron Frédéric Rolin. It was sold July 7, 2004 to Steve Wynn. .

During the initial decades following its first publication in 1904, the picture was universally accepted and published as an autograph work by Vermeer. Then, following the dramatic events of the affair of the Van Meegeren forgeries of Vermeer, De Vries, the Director of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, and the recognized leading scholar on Vermeer, expressed doubts about the authenticity of the picture.

After more than 10 years of extensive research by a team of leading scholars, the painting has now been proposed as a secure addition to Vermeer's limited oeuvre. Not all scholars, however, agree.

Have you ever painted a painting for someone you loved, or thought you loved? Did they love you but not the art? Did they love the painting but not you?

I thought you might like to see this older painting. It's actually titled 'Love - Emergency Exit Only.'
