Drawing & Illustration

All I've got is a biro and some paper...

Many who draw and like art and who get hooked on anime or manga want to draw japanese style anime characters but

they forget about being creative and and making their own style drawings.

I started a project last week, i'm making stories in a comic book fashion cause i have a program where you can incorporate images and add Dialogue bubbles( Comic life). ANyways, i won't and i refuse to make any of my drawings like Japanese manga style. I just make them my style. They dont' look anything like japanese .

But why is it other people fall into the trap of wanting to copy japanese style anime or manga characters.

See i love art, i can be better with practice, i would love to take art classes, but i feel they would not help me gain a good well-payed career, unless i was really good....so...anyone have any suggestions on what careers are out there that are well payed, and that invlove some sort of drawing, painting, etc. I dont want to be a starving artist >.< Any sugestions? Links? References..anything?

I'm learning to use graphite and tortillion on bristol paper and I'm not getting the proper blending effect with the tortillion. I'm still seeing lines when I try to blend. Any advice on how what to remedy this?

Words can easily be transferred from manscript to copy, how do illustrators do it? Illustrators that work in pencil, pastel or marker, what type of paper do they have to use?

I love to draw; I've been doing it since I was 4. Whenever I hear a song, I get an idea about how I would draw it (it usually involves a person and something they're doing). I have stacks and stacks of inspirations in my mind, just waiting to be drawn out. I have a tablet, too, so I could make it look professional and show it off in a digital gallery. I just have one problem. I CAN'T FINISH DRAWINGS. Usually, the farthest I get is a sketch (in Photoshop, doing it on paper isn't for me) and maybe the start of cleaning up the sketch (I can't even remember the last time I've started coloring something). Then I succumb to a lack of ambition, further interest, and motivation.

How can I stop this? I have at least 20 Photoshop files of just...a few lines... "ugh, I give up." I have so many ideas that I love, and I hate how they all just have to live in my head or in a crappy sketch.

I go to this high school where you can choose classes between medical&dental,Law and visual arts, where each category has maybe three specialty. I chose visual arts where there's studio art, ad design, and media tech. I'm choosing between Ad Design and Media Tech.
