Think about what clocks symbolize. Being punctual, hurrying, waking up at a certain time, going to sleep... Clocks control our lives. There are many different ways of telling time like a sundial, a timer, an hour glass. Perhaps you could do a collage using different parts of watches like gears, hands... You could have people rushing around like the photos you've seen of New York crowds. People waking up, farmers plowing fields... Maybe show how clocks influence our lives.

take picture of the second and hour hands slightly separated on the number 1. Enlarge the picture about 300 percent and actually show the perspective of the hands against the flat surface of the number. indicate a shadow for depth perception of the hands just above the number. Do the whole thing a a slight angle to give yourself a horizon line to draw the perspective by.

How about a large clock face and instead of numbers, depict 12 stages of human development, or maybe evolution. You could represent any subject and the changes it goes through over time in this way.

Make it mobile so use a swinging pendulum and a modified egg timer. A few cogs and wheels would not go amiss and yes why not pinch a bit of dali and use some wilting clock faces.
