Words can easily be transferred from manscript to copy, how do illustrators do it? Illustrators that work in pencil, pastel or marker, what type of paper do they have to use?

Publishers have the drawings or paintings scanned onto the bookpages. They accept all types of paper except some that are high-gloss. It reflects light and can be hard to work with.

For pastels, use special pastel paper that has a tooth. Then, when the drawing is finished use a fixative to make it permanent. Thus the pastel will not rub off during the scanning.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter what type of paper artists use. Xeroxing can copy anything.
