You didn't say what field you are studying, but I assume it's art-related since your question is in that category. You need to call up every business in your area that does what you do and tell them you are looking for an internship and ask if they have any openings available. Then they might schedule an interview with you or ask you to send in a resume. Follow up with them later so they don't forget about you. Just keep at it and you shouldn't have any trouble. I've worked as a designer for six years and the agencies I worked at would often have students in to do internships. It's more the company doing you a favor than you helping the company, since interns aren't usually experienced enough to be much help.
