I'm so frustrated! I have a degree in art, and I took life drawing but had a horrible instructor. I try to draw my friends and family.... the drawings look good, but they don't resemble the person I'm drawing. I can draw other things realistically, and I really want to be able to do portraits too. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

I don't know why, but I love office supplies. Post its, pens, pencils, paper, folders, notebooks... I love getting all new stuff like that. Does anybody else out there feel the same way??

(This is meant to be kind of funny, I'm not some super nerd.)

What can I do to start a career as an illustrator when it comes to getting my name out to publishers? I already have a growing portfolio and my artwork on the internet. I'm more looking toward children's illustration and book cover design as opposed to entirely freelance artist work.

I asked a question yesterday regarding the best pencils and paper for a beginner. Now that I know what type of materials to buy this weekend, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to go beyond drawing faces. I am on a tight budget as is, and can't really afford to buy a book or books. My job hours prevent me from getting to the library, so I was wondering if there are websites out there? I feel like I am stuck in a rut. Although, since I have never drawn in my life, it seems like a good idea to continue practicing the one thing I tried to draw that I am actually getting a positive result with. Suggestions?
