if they are scanned in color very easy on any editing program ( if you truly mean 1/2 and not elements within the shots ) just 'cut' in two convert one to gray scale and 'paste' together

for elements within the shot - you do need an editing program but Photoshop can be a handful try one of the simpler ones ( even Photoshop Elements )

there are photo tints that or makers that you can use to paint parts of photos yourself. this is the weird halo-ish coloring effect a lot of photos from the early 1930's or so. They colored photos with tinits by hand.

if you want to diy, photoshop is the only way, otherwise you can pay others to do it
