I'm a portrait artist, and someone I know ( I hesitate to call him a friend at this time) suggested portraiture was not as difficult or valuable as art that is created completely from the imagination. When I think of artists such as Rembrandt and Leonardo Da Vinci this notion seems quite ridiculous. I would like to reference a very respectable source to retort his statement. If someone knows of a particular quote or passage I could send him I would be very happy. Thanks.

Does any one know what the name of this picture is and possibly who painted it. I found the file on an old floppy disk i had. It's a cool pic and i'm looking for the name so maybe i could get maybe a print of it. It looks really low quality. Now everyone tells me it looks like a Salvador Dali Painting. Now it does look similar but i'm not sure. This is just a screen cap from some movie/tv show. I found it with my back stock of floppy disks so i have no idea what movie/tv show.

I've been trying my hardest to learn how to draw, due to my situation its been rather hard. (Dealing with the loss of my parents). Though tutorials dont seem to help me very much. What Im looking for is I guess kinda of like manga. Online or offline (Jacksonville FL area) both would work maybe I dont.

Last Summer I visited the National Gallery in London, and I saw the most beautiful painting, that, if I remember correctly, was a John Singer Sarget. It was maybe 4 by 6 feet... It looked a bit like Madame X, but the woman was wearing a red dress. And this is odd, but I can't remember if there were one or two women. All i can remember is the red dress, and I've tried to look the painting up, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Does anyone think they know anything about it? I will give you 10 points if you can name the painting, but I wish I could give 100!

most people say its vandelism.. However... isn't the whole point of art expression? and if it is a form of expression and feelings exerted in art isn't the artist making a statement by putting it where he or she wants? Isn't that what makes graffiti unique and different? Sure there is a point where it is considered vandelism.. but aren't their certain positions where it should be considered art as well? ?

I'm doing an argumentative essay on why graffiti is art. .. What is your view? I'm not necessarily saying I agree with my stance.. it is the topic I got.

I've always taken this one, because I thought it was unique and not something you see as often as you used to.

You get the bride to take off her shoe, and as she is holding it, you get her dad or mom to come over and pretend to drop a penny into it.

Is it classic, or just old and outdated?

I need to create a structure out of cardboard (I've got some strawboard) without using any glue/adhesives. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not allowed to use corrugated cardboard either. Oh and my structure has to be able to withstand the weight of a 5-litre bucket filled with water. Any suggestions of how I can bind or basically put the cardboard together would be great. I'm cutting slits into it and building on the idea of a cross-axis house-of-cards kinda thing...but there are areas which I need to bind together. Thanks

What would be a good solution that does not require a $1500.00+ lens? I have been told to try a spotting scope with an adapter, as well as a telescope with an adapter. My skill level would be hobbyist. I'm using a Canon Eos and an Eos Digital (Rebel).
Thanks!
