Ok my first question is this - What are some of the best photography schools in the nation?

My second question is - Are they really worth the $100,000+ that you're going to be shelling out for them?

My third question is - What are some good public universities that offer excellent photography courses without the private art school tuition?

Long story short - I don't have any money. I can't get grants because my parents make too much money apparently, but the govn't doesn't consider the fact that my parents have six kids to put thru college and they are not able or willing to pay even a quarter of what a private art school would cost. I know that as a photographer it is very unlikely that I would ever be able to repay that kind of student loan. I am so interested in getting a good photography degree and would really like to become a photographer, so any advice that you guys could offer would be great.

P.S. I live in Texas so public schools instate would be a nice bit of info.

Think about it...people hire "Wedding Photographers" to photograph their weddings. Why not hire a "Funeral Photographer" to photograph a funeral? I mean, after all, they both represent the same thing - death.

Help me understand more about using panels. Any tips on gesso? Any additional adhesive or preservatives to add to protect the art?

Hi, I was wondering if I could use watercolor paint with gouache paint? What I was wondering is , are they compatible? I read somewhere that gouache was opaque watercolor, so I was wondering if I could use a white gouache paint with my watercolors? Has anyone tried this and if so what was your experience? Hope to find out soon, I'm ready to paint! LOL SD

I wanted to understand what ‘panel’ means. I heard it means, actual plywood or processed wood board. What best way to use it?

Whenever I see an Impressionist painting, I can't help but think, "That's what things look like when I don't have my glasses on."

Just came across this story about a painting by Patsy Ramsey that nearly matches a painting by another artist:

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4064157

What are your opinions about this? Do you think it is wrong (plagiarism, copyright infringement, etc.), or do you agree with the artist who painted the original painting (that Patsy Ramsey used the original painting as a "guide" and that it was ok with her)?

Please read the article at the above link before responding.

I love to draw and would like to make money at it some day. I've been hired to draw things for people but it gets really boring drawing things that I don't inspire me. If I just drew what I like to draw (people) - is there a market for that?
Check out some of my sketches at http://intoangiesmind.blogspot.com/ at tell me what you think.

I enjoy painting and drawing but I heard that artists are always poor but my family thinks I should make a career out of it. Is it a waste of time to go to college for something that isnt popular in society?
