try ebay. I see artwork from artists that havent been discovered yet selling their art. Most of it is very good.

Since you live in a small town, do what I've done: find the nearest flea market and take a regular small booth. It's not very expensive, but it will get you noticed. You could also have a regular yard sale at your home and display some of your artwork as well... again, another way to stay in the public's eye. You may have to go to a larger city to find flea market space... if the cost is prohibitive, you might contact an Art Auctioneer to see if he would be interested in selling it along with other artwork. Good luck!

I may be old fashioned, but I think people would rather hold something than look at it on the internet. I would get some quality photos of your work printed and bound as a "book portfolio" and send it to the highest galleries and critics you know in the most lucrative cities for art. If your work is good, than someone may appreciate your efforts at something more personal than the average web gallery. Just my 2c.

You can have a website professionally done that would include an introductory page and a gallery that you could load photos of your artwork on from your computer. You can also scan your work to your computer to create a jpeg if it is a smaller work of art. I would suggest using watermarking if you intend on selling your work, or display it in a gallery that is done with Flash, so people cannot take your work and claim it as their own.
There are also sites like http://www.sheezyart.com where you can upload your art work.

You can post 4 images for free on the website: Absolute Arts.
I recently joined and I upgraded to the service that costs $36 a year. For $36, I can load 40 images, have a blog, artist statment, etc. I am happy with the service. and if you don't want to pay anything, you can still upload your 4 images and post a statement. There is an email link so if someone sees it and wants to contact you, they can.
