People did at certain times have funeral portraits taken of family members. Particularly of children. For most people photographs were expensive and so once a child died that was the last chance to have a photo taken. Now however, photos are generally not cost prohibitive and very common so we have something to remember the dead.
It was a fairly common practice. Going through family photos after my grandmother died, we found photos of my great great grandfather at his funeral.

Actually there are lots of people that take pictures of their loved ones in their casket, but I think it's a bit tacky to charge someone to photograph a very sad occassion. Funeral's aren't really something people like to remember. Though at my grandmother's funeral I did happen to snap a shot of the casket carrier guys (I can't think of what they're called) carrying the casket toward the grave that my whole family absolutely loves. I could see there being some business, but I wouldn't make my whole career on funerals.
One funeral that my mother went to, the funeral director had ordered balloons and other things with the dead man's picture on it. The picture was of course taken when the gentleman was still alive. I've also heard of someone going around the neighborhood showing people pictures of their wife at her funeral since none of the neighbors came to the funeral.

People used to photograph funerals. I have a friend who collects funeral photos. Most of the photos are old, the practice seems to have fallen out of favor. Maybe if you hang out or advertise at some funeral homes you could revive a lost art. Do you photograph births too?

Dremont - Level 3 "Sounds like someone might have issues here- at funerals usually people are a little stiff, not good shots."
People are a little stiff, hahahahahahahahaha
My guess is that they do not want to be reminded of grief. Weddings are celebrations of a joyous nature, funerals are rarely considered joyous.

Because people generally don't want pictures to remind them of sad events.
Would you want pictures of your loved ones funeral?

Why the hell would you want a reminder of a really sad occassion? Unless you are weird of course. I am assuming that you are single and will remain so and therefore have a lonely death.

In many places (countries) they do take pictures of the love ones in their last suit, however in the more civilized world is not common.
And I do not agree in the term that matrimony means death.
