Dude, this is a crazy hard thing to do. The comics industry has been slowing down for MANY years, and unemployed artists are very plentiful, so the competition is fierce. I guess the best thing to do is to go to a lot of conventions and show the publishers your work. They usually have special sessions. I gave up on this idea myself when I was about 17, after realizing that having a steady income was better than doing a hobby professionally and starving half the time, but I do remember some advice people told me.
1. Only bring your absolute best work to show them
2. Do not make excuses to them about why something is not great in your art. If it's not great and you knew, why are you wasting their limited time?
3.Expect to be frustrated. Even the best guys in industry had to suffer a lot of rejection before making it in the bigtime.
4. Pay EXTRA attention to their criticism. It's almost always constructive, and you WILL get better if you take their words to heart.
5. Don't expect instant success. It's normal for artists' first works, e.g. your 10 year labor of love, to never even see the light of day. Most likely, someone will ignore their talent and they'll be stuck drawing backgrounds or something for the stars, with little credit. Those who persist and have the talent will get through this alive, albeit probably hungry and tired from lack of room and board.
6. Some other things I don't remember.
But yea, I've rambled a bit. Hope this helps. BTW, how much stuff do you have exactly? I mean, phew, ten years of work. Is it a honkin' graphic novel?

before talking to publishers or editors of companies talk to artist at comic-cons. and if you can not get to them there are a few places on the net you can go to i know that dark horse comics is very willing to look at art work and even if it is just pencil or inking or even lettering. don't expect to get hired just get their opinion of your work. finding an artist at a comic-con would be more suitable because they are artist not all publishers and editors are or were ever artist. they might have a degree in literature not graphic arts or media art. the artist usually like artwork and they know some tricks and might try to help so talk find them and give it your all.

You can submit your ideas to a publisher (you need to find a publisher that usually publishes a genre close to your own), or you can be a self publisher (though it's more difficult and directly costs you money and time).
You need to fine tune your skills, whether they're storyboard writing, drawing, inking, coloring, etc, and submit your portfolio to a company. At the worst, they'll deny you, but they may keep you on a roster for future projects or even publish your own.
I invested in acid free paper, toner, etc, for my projects, which gives it a very professional touch, but it's also costly.
Good luck!

A less technological method for self publishing is to photocopy your own comics. You can submit them to zine distros or comic book stores and see if they sell. Or try selling them online with a consignment shop.

Use your computer to scan your artwork. Compile and make the comic books yourself... then offer them for sale on eBay. That's a very large market for you... and it will time to develop a following if your comic book has commercial appeal... be patient.

the first and most important think in any type of art is learning the anatomy of the men and women Body, from there focus on the structure and from there you will probably know what to do
