I've been thinking about different styles and mediums of art to play around with, and I remembered seeing some at an art display I had seen.

If I remember right, it was accomplished by putting wax on the cavas and dyeing the uncovered area and repeating the process.

So, does anyone know what this is called, or anything close to what I'm trying to seek? Other recomendations of mediums to experiment with would also be apreciated. Thanks.

it is signed A. Wager or it might be A. Hager. it's hard to tell if it is a W or an H the way this person has made that letter. it is an outdoor scene and an oil painting.

I know it is a famous picture but I can't remember the title, I believe the girl in the picture may have been sitting on a cart of some kind with flowers around, and it looked like it was probably taken in a country other than the US. It is an image that stuck in my mind when I saw it and I would love to find a print of it if possible.

it seems like an etching, or wood cut, in the style of dore (whom it may be), depicting a man with one and a half arms; one arm severed, but smooth/healed, seeming, about the elbow, the other holding a torch at, roughly, 45 degree tilt (so that the fuel of the torch's fire would spill from it, though i saw none spilled). to his left (or so it seemed in the program i was watching, that featured it - "history's mysteries: cults" - they may have flipped the picture) appears to be a man, kneeling, looking not unlike a durer christ. it may be meant to convey sparks falling from the torch entering the man (it was used in a segment on gnosticism). it may be merely a small part of a larger picture. any clues? a link, to verify it's the same work, would be useful. further: why is the standing man (perhaps crowned with leaves?) maimed? i've studied something of gnosticism, but don't recognise this symbol. it has a blakean feel, about it, but the art is not as "simple". who are these figures?

There was a painting I saw as a child. I for the life of me can't remember the name but I need to know what the figures in it was called.
They are usually posed as dancing and hold trumpets or horns. They have extensions from their head that look kinda like hair or a headdress. They are usually not detailed with a face or any markings but are kinda like plain. Maybe african or Indian type but I can't tell.
Maybe anyone knows?

I am at a crossroads totally when it comes to my life. I was a full time artist before I started working full time, which left very little time for art. But, on the other hand, I have money to do whatever I want, with full benefits and health care. The problem is, I don't really like the job, but I like the money, and with the money I make I support my family, we don't want for anything, and I can buy all the supplies and everything I need, I just don't have a lot of time to create. I was sick last week and painted a couple of paintings and it was truly liberating. I am dreading work. LOL!!! I don't have to work, I could get along ok without it, but the extra money is always nice. It just seems I am being left behind or something. Everyone has a different opinion on what I should do. Do any of you work and do art? If so, how do you manage your time? Any suggestions? What I can do now is just come home (all tired LOL!!!) and work for a lillte while, not too inspiring. Help! SD
