I was looking up other questions on faith but they were all from the religious spiritual side of things. I am more interested in a logic based philisophical perspective for this question.

I have heard the response time and time again about religion and god; when people are aked why do they believe they respond with "because I have faith." Is faith a feasible logical answer to a question or is it too week from a philisophical stand point. Have there been any philosphers that have tackled the issue of faith (both for and against)?

I have been thinking why couldn't humans live longer than they do? Like I dunno a thousand years? Sure, we have a limited amount of braincells till we die, but could not our body just evolve to have more braincells? Why do we live the length of time that we live?

for example, a successful business man who owns a multimillion dollar business says he's where he is today because he's hard working. But how did he become hard working? His parents probably taught him about the benefits of working hard when he was a child. A scientist who makes a discovery is where he is today because he's intelligent and uses his head. His environment as a child probably forced him to be intelligent and use his head to solve problems. When babies are born, are they just empty shells from which their environment molds them? Is anyone REALLY where they are today COMPLETELY from their own efforts? Isn't everyone's lives thus controlled by something beyond themselves? What do you think?

Are you balanced or an extremist? Why would either extreme be better than another? I know this is a broad generalization. Benefits and drawbacks? Where does moderation fit in? Most likely I'll be adding details to this question, since I really don't know exactly what my question is. Thoughts or experience welcome.
