My son is twenty years old and he's a night owl himself...even though he sleeps much of the day and I like being awake during the daylight hours, I love his company at night, so I usually stay awake awhile so I can feel his loving presence.

Dear Jennymagic,
my son is a little too old for the playground, but not too old for the hugs we give each other, especially since his older brother had passed away. When we do cross each other's paths, we do spend quality time together... in fact he and I shared the joyous task of looking after my grandchild, while my 25 year old daughter needed the help as she moved out of her old apartment. He learned how to be a FABULOUS uncle.

Dear Pepsilime,
I mean this in a kindhearted way...but I was asking on behalf of my son.
So many of you answered with good reasons to be on this site...I am going to copy and paste this answer on Microsoft word and print it out for my son. He will love the answers and realize why I love this site so much...one thing I'd like to add is that 10 months after our older son died, I joined a site about people who had a suicide in their families, but I got off that site because the more I was on it, it got me more and more depressed...so this site, for the most part has been a blessing to me because I find it way more uplifting.

I guess trying to help others is addicting! At least it's a
healthy habit!LOL
I love asking questions? But answering them and getting
best answer is very rewarding for me!
I have a 23 old son and a 20 yr old!
Peace!

Tension reduction, ability to find a kind of surety in a live, personal communication format. It's somewhat like a salon. Accessing it while doing one or two other things is a good use of time. Also, the level of influence and shaping of consciousness which the word has, when given by a more wide-spread group, is more diversely energetic. Kind of like a group of people making a poem.
regards,
j.
Would suggest "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, "Watch Your Dreams" and "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, and "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, as items of possible interest.

Part of it might be to get encouragement or whatever you need without having to become too personally involved. You don't have to spend a lot of time here to get a pat on the back or to find a joke that can lift your spirits a bit. Sometimes I do it for a few minutes just to center myself a bit when things seem to be swirling around me.

oh man i am so hooked on this, i swear this is my first day on here and Ive been on this site for 6 and a half hours my eyes are seeing computer screens as if i just glanced at the sun. AND i asked myself this same question. don't worry tell your son its because you feel helpless and can relate with every sorry ******* on here. so you in turn try and tweak your thoughts and project help hope and closure the best you can for yourself and others.

It's easy to get hooked on Yahoo answers because it's like talking to another person and relaying your thoughts or experience.

its always a sense of reward or pleasure which keeps you hooked to anything and if repeatedly done becomes addiction..it may come from releiving you from boredom or a sense of superiority or releiving you from a sense of worthlessness or if you are very curious type then from the joy of discovering something new or because it kindles your thinking process..

I think if you're asking us here in yahoo answers for the answer to why you're hooked on yahoo answers, you've just given yourself your own answer.
