Why in the movie the Matrix, if someone gets shot after being "plugged in," they die in real life.

An example being: when Neo is shot in the chest in "the Matrix," he spits up blood while he is on the ship. Why is this? If it is just a computer program, or something of the nature, why would he die in real life.

Thanks for any help.

Wouldn't it be a better place if God (if he exists) had not given man free will?

I beleive God gives us sense enough to be prepared for hard times so for the most part we provide for our own earthly needs then let God pick up the slack when we can't. What are your thoughts on this?

Does "nothing" and "something" really exist?

I mean, everything is something.
But things can't exist without there opposite,
I mean, there can be no good without evil, no hot without cold, ect.
So if everthings somthing, including nothing. Wouldn't that make "somthing" not have an opposite makeing it so that "something" and "nothing" don't exist?
But if "something" and "nothing" don't exist, what is this text your reading made out of?

we directly experience 4 dimensions - 'up/down', 'in/out', 'side-to-side' and time, right?
how come we only experience the last one as being 'uni-directional'...if i understand it right then mathematically there's no reason for this?(i mean that time only goes one way for us,PLEASE put me right if i ain't!)...

my THOUGHT was that time was the dimension that we experience the other three 'in', as it were and that if we were in a fifth dimension that 'contained' space/time then we would be able to move back and forwards in time as easily as i can move up and down etc. is that right?

if so - how come the dimension at the top of my hierarch is directional? if we could experience a fifth dimension would THAT be one-directional like time is for us now? and - this is the important bit for me - WHYYY!!!????

any elucidating concepts would be appreciated, ty.

Just curious to what you think. Personally I think that anything is possible as long as you have the guts to do it. But I just wanted to know what you guys think.

Here goes. im too young to arrive at the occupation I want. Yes too young. The world's economy is formed in such a way that people are rewarded for their obedience. I'm far too insightful, resourceful, wise, and (dare I say one more) intelligent to match others my age in their quest to one day land a well paying job. I have exhausted every other option so now i come here with a question. With the image of a billionaire paying me an excessive wage for my gifts (research, decision making, whatever) how do I arrive at an occupation I want without being put into the place of mediocrity which will, in the end, bring me down to the level of average? I want to rise quick, as if I'm the soul of an 80 year old trapped in the body of a 25 year old.

I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinion of time. Do you think it's a physical force or just something we use to measure sequences of events? Can time be manipulated or is it constant?

"You can change what you might be but never can you change what you will be"...

I think Free will is an illusion.. the atoms are causal of one another... obviously the atoms will do what higher causing makes them do, which means they are deterministic.. for free will to exist there must be a period of uncertainty with potential, and i don't just mean a person being confused about what to do.. Free willers (if you like) like to think that there's a non-deterministic superstition of some sort affecting our decisions.. free will is not logical.. it's superstitious and I believe it's an illusion. What's your opinion?
