Extensions? What is your reading material?
David R. Kelly wrote that emotions are not a "species of cognition" as so many philosophers take them to be; they ARE cognition. The cognition is of one's emotional reaction to the effect his metaphysics have on the world and the people he loves; or emotional reactions to the metaphysics of other people upon him.
Emotions are reactive, but they are the cognition of valuations of metaphysics made empirical--in your stomach or in your heart or your chest, or where ever it is that you actually "feel" them. They are cognitions of the effectiveness of your metaphysics.
