Which would you rather be known for - being kind or being fair?....and why?

They are both extremely important, but rather different, don't you think?
Kindness is our transactions with others; thoughtful or courteous consideration for the feelings of others.
Fair is more "judicial." Fair is fitting, proper, or called for by legal or ethical standards. We can be reasonable & open-minded, but not necessarily wholly satisfactory to all. This often requires compromise, rather than making a subjective distinction between right & wrong.
I'd prefer to be "known" for kindness, because in kindness there aren't any "grey zones," & being kind expresses my nature. Others may not always agree with what I think is fair, but they will never be misled by true kindness.

Well, If Your Not Being Kind, I Would Say That Wasn't Being Fair, Wouldn't You? Interlocking Attributes, I Would Say.
Yeah : )

I Would Rather Be Known For Being Kind, Because I Could Somehow Weezle The Fairness In Objectively, If I Was Kind. Sometimes Being Fair, According To The Rules, Isn't Being Kind. Like, If I Was Organizing A Softball Team, And Little Chris Wanted To Be On Team 1 And Team 1 Already Had Their Players Set, It Might Not Be Fair To Jimmy To Make Him Leave His Team And Go To Team 2 , But We Have To Consider That Little Chris Is Upset And Crying And He Wants To Be On Team 1 With His Best Friend Shawn Who Is On That Team........... Sooo, Do I Say, NOW Chris We Have To Abide By These Guidelines And Leave You On Team 1, Even Though Your Upset And Crying, Or Could I Bend The Rules, Just A Bit, Compromise, And Allow Chris To Jump In That Team? Would't That Be The 'Kind' Thing To Do, Since Chris Is The Exception To The Whole Soccer Team Of 50 Kids? Maybe Not Fair, Because The Other Kids Don't Get To Do It, But My One Act Of Kindness Might Make An Impression On This Kid, And Affect The Way He Lives The Rest Of His Life, Assimilating, Empathy, Seeing Others In Situations, And Helping Them Out, Whether It Is Their Fault Or Not. And If I Am Fair, And Allow Him To Cry And Be Upset, And Stay On A Team He Doesn't Want To Be On, He Will Remember It For The Rest Of His Life, Maybe Still Feel Empathy, And Assimilation. But I Might Have To Deal With Guilt Years Later When I See His Name In The Paper, That He Committed A Crime, And Wonder Was I Just Another Instigator, That Pushed This Child To The Breaking Point? Why Not Do Kindness TODAY, When It Is Easier, And Less Expensive For The 'Tax Payers' Down The Road To Fund, Mental Health, Hospital Expenses, Jail Cell Rentals, Etc.
Sorry To Give You A Long Novel, But When You Get Me Going (Like The Energizer Bunny) Seems I Keep Going And Going. Take Care Man Or Lady! Peace

I think what is more important is the kindness of an individual and fairness will just follow. Kindness involves your affection to humanity through service which is not present in fairness. For fairness is an essential element for justice.

I would be rather noted as being kind. In kindness the good deeds to your brothers and sisters are much important. The generosity i have will help them in dealing with their lives whatever form of assistance i could extend.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

In the job I'm in, teaching, I'd have to say that being fair gets you much further than just being kind (although obviously that helps too!) Being kind doesn't always earn you respect but being fair usually does, sometimes it's hard to separate the two though.

Here im going to give you an example so that you can figure it out.

A friend asks you to hold their place in line until 4pm and that they will be there. Being kind would be to wait inline until your friend shows up, thats kindness. Being fair would be at exactly 4pm, you left, your friend being there or not, thus losing your friends place.inline.

so after this its up to you. Both are important, but me? id rather be known for being kind.

kindness and fairness are both pretty relative by personal standards
but at least kindness would attempt to be nice even though it could just come across as patronizing

it's nice to be important but it's even more important to be nice
or kind
it's to difficult to be fair because usually what's fair to one person is unfair to others

i don't know actually
opinions and stuff

Fairness. Kindness is a trait most people have while being absolutely fair is an unique trait.

How can being fair not be being kind at the same time? I can't think of a situation where being fair wouldn't at the same time be kind?? You have me puzzled there!

I would say fairness. Kindness, while a virtue, can be misplaced. Fairness is always a good solution and judiciousness is always essential for a cilvized society, as well as individual, to exist peacefully in thsi world.

You can always be kind to yourself.
