Is hope related to wishing, wishing for things to be different than they are?

Can a life be lived without hope, is it even
necessary?

thanks.....☺

In my Sociology class we were talkin about races and stuff and my professor said that Caucasian people have a distinct advantage in every aspect of their life in the United States. She is a Caucasian herself and she said "Especially in the dating world and the nightlife"

I couldn't comprehend what she meaant

Most of my classmates seemed to agree (about 23 outta 30 of us thru a show of hands by her statement)

IS that somewhat true? How??

I'm not suicidal, just down at the minute
I want ambition, flare, but at the minute I can't see a point in life

Buddhist philosophy argues that we will avoid that which we do not like.

Or, do you also avoid things that you do like?

Ever look back to the last year and say to yourself 'I did that .. how could I?' .. we all do this, wonder how we could have acted that way.
Next year you'll say it to yourself again. In fifty years time you'll look back on your life and realise you never did anything you ever really wanted to do and what you did do wasn't really you.
You'll be perplexed and confused until you realise the truth which is that YOU never did anything at all. In fact there is no such person as YOU. There is no such thing as an individual person acting under his/her own volition, call yourself what you want .. George .. Miranda .. Herbert .. it's all meaningless.
So relax, no need to feel guilt, or desire, or longing or resentment or grievance or anything, because YOU don't exist.
