If you genuinely want to make others happy, you would forget your own self and that is the best way to attain lasting happiness.

The trouble is we want to make others happy only because we knowingly or subconsciously expect something out of it for ourselves... that is not genuinely wanting to make others happy.

I think happiness follows being a good person. Sometimes it is hard to do the right thing and be nice to people that you do not like but these are things that a good person is obligated to do. Of course you need to keep yourself healthy - you shouldn't be killing yourself to serve others, as your body is your temple - but putting other's needs and happiness before your own is a very noble thing to do and I am sure that in the long-run, your own happiness will come from it.

I had a look at your other questions and you end them all with that armour/steed/jousting thing. If you waved a magic wand at me to make me happy, I would find that really annoying. So it would go away, then you wouldn't be happy because its kind of like your signature. For every ying theres a yang, therefore it is impossible for every single person on the planet to be happy at the same time. Also, I agree that some people are only happy when they are miserable. I'm related to some of them.

I believe if you make others happy, there's very little chance that you will be unhappy after. Making others happy, even if we don't feel like it in the first place, give's one a high. A person who makes others happy eventually ends up happy himself.

Have a happy life!

People who are mature and self aware know that you can not keep everyone happy all of the time.....keeping people happy is not your responsibility anyways. Your responsibility is to never intentionally hurt others....do what you can to be charitable and to try to stay optimistic.

You aren't responsible for the happiness of others. And they are not responsible for your happiness.

If you do something for someone, do it our your desire to do so, never out of obligation, duty or to avoid conflict. And never do something to make someone happy with an expectation attached to it. (I did this for you, now you must do X for me.)

Change your outlook. Make up your mind to be happy no matter what.
It's impossible, though, to make everyone happy, so don't get too stressed if you can't please some people.
