life is something we have to live for OURSELVES, right? not others.
we were not put on earth to please others or live for them.
And everyone knows that the world is a selfish place right?
well saying that so what if people kill themselves! So what if they are selfish! I mean really the rest of the world is just as selfish and we are living for ourselves not others so we shouldnt be making decisions based on others feelings right?
i mean you wouldnt have sex because your friend said he would be mad and upset if you didnt, would you? NO! thats because you are making a decision based on how YOU feel, living for YOU! anyone see my point? even if you dont agree?

His writing is almost indecipherable to me. I want to understand his ideas, but it's all flying right over my head. I've been studying philosophy for three years and the "Critique of Pure Reason" is by far the most dense, confusing thing I've ever taken a stab at. Is there a helpful book or website you'd recommend to a Kant novice like myself?

and is very far removed from common sense.

so the idea cannot be disproven by common sense and logic. can it therefore be deemed as irrefutable?

is this why solipsism and cartesian skepticism cant be disproved?

Space and time define our universe as we can understand it. And all that happened from the first moment that this universe began till now that I'm writing these lines are related to each other. Every single event concludes to this very moment. But what about our thoughts? Does a thought effect the progress of things and events? Is a thought connected to a death of a star 2 millions yaers ago? Or will a thought of your own make a rainforest disappear after 200 years? How can we be sure that our thoughts really matter in the continiouity of the universe?

How can one ever become entirely objective? If we are brutally honest, we have to admit the unpleasant truth about ourselves, in that we all have prejudices. We all have proclivities. We all choose favorites. How then may we be truly objective?

What if objectivity is illusory? After all, how can we know it is real? We can only imagine what things appear like through different eyes, but we can never actually experience that detachment.

What is your opinion?

Why does God give people who dont deserve it a break and leave the rest of us to suffer and hurt to the point where we feel alone and we feel like no one cares about what happens to us anymore? Why does it feel like he wants me to die?

Everyone, at least at one point in there life, feels a void. I'm a good person. Things are good. I have everything I need to flourish, and come into my own. However, why does it feel like there is something more i need to achieve? Or, rather, there is something missing which I could get. If there is, in fact, something like this, how do I go about figuring out what "it" is? I need a method of prognosis.
