Or are also you drifting in polarities between a past / future orientated despair?

Are you here?

Are you NOW?

I casually drifted into your question then it interested me, as being conscious in the present moment has been one of my considerations for some time now. How conscious I am, or how much I am here? I really cannot tell. Sometimes, I think I am where I am but in fact I am only partly there, and partly somewhere else. Sometimes, I do drift into my past upon the ripples and waves of memories, and then often I fantasise my future. I think it is natural; and I think it is impossible to stay focused upon the present moment hundred percent for more than couple of seconds. I can say that I am fairly here ‘giving it all your thought and focus’. And if I am too much here into the question, I might delve too deep into the moment of contemplation and come up with an answer quite intuitive but not a direct response to your question. Too much of focus can also take us into subconscious trans like state of mind; it would be as if we became so intesely focused that we fell through momentary fabric of time into a state unknown.

In order to perform well we need to stay at the top of things in time. We need to stay at the surface of our conscious mind. It is like a boatsman upon the surface of a vast and fathomless ocean. Or if I imagine human mind in its structure to be something like a tree than I realise that it would be in constant need to stay connected to its past through its roots and to its future through its seeds bearing fruit or flowers.

Thanks for asking anyway.

Yes....I drift. Yes, I am here. Yes, i am aware of the now. As a mother of 3, i have to be or I will miss everything there is to experience with my own children, as they will be adults someday. I can only get baby girl hugs while she's a baby...and those are worth remembering). Yet, as a woman who is un-happily married due to poor decision basis, i am simultaneously loooking to the future. maybe i can make better choices, therefore leaving this 'despair'. but will these choices only lead me to more 'depair'? either way, this is a lesson i will soon learn. being aware of how today's choices affect my future makes me feel like, yes, it seems as though i might be dirfting between polarities.

Yes, it had all my thought and focus while I read it.
I immediately started with the polarities. It wasn't all despair though - I really did get both poles.
No I am not there - I am here. You're there though, so how is it there? Weather alright?
No I am not NOW, but I've met her and she seemed quite charming. Her mum is nice too...

I am trying to give it all my focus and I'm not drifting in any kind of despair, but I'll admit my thoughts are jumping from now to an hour from now to tomorrow to yesterday.

No, I'm thinking about the noise that my four siblings are making as they do their chores, I'm thinking about the sound of the water going through the pipes as my mom takes a shower, I'm thinking about the noises that my computer keeps making, I'm thinking about the bird that's tweeting outside my window. I am here and NOW, but only for a short time until my head decides that I need to focus my energy somewhere else.

Absolutely! and I am never in despair - I am one of those people to see the glass as half full and I generally try and look on the bright side of things.

I gave it about two seconds of my time, but was fully focused during that time! To be serious though, I think it is very important to live in the present. We can't change the past, and who knows what will happen tomorrow.

I'm here right now, but I am at work and listening to the radio at the same time, so I am on various planes - Are you still there?

Just to prove that I am actually here, I want to say that your question is not all that thought provoking. My eyes had wandered to the TV screen for a few seconds.
