Existence is important because this all that is there, without which there will be just nothing. Life is not wasteful; instead it is a highly intelligent, purposeful and integrated activity with a natural tendency to be as little wasteful as possible.
Do I have belief in anything? My view is that you must never place your faith anywhere in this world, for this world is not a fit place to leave your faith lying around just about anywhere, or everywhere for that matter. The best and the only place for faith is in human heart, keep it there and try to keep make sure it stays there at it rightful place. Now, this is potentially something that you could recognise as your purpose in life. I would also like to add here that this world you must place under your constant and strict caution all the times, and always look at things most doubtfully, never in blind faith, all things are potentially dangerous to human purpose. But can only do this if you have faith in your heart.
You have asked me specially, what is my purpose in life, the answer then is that my life is all propose; it has no room in itself for its own explanation in words for other people. Does a word, for example, know what does it mean? No, it does not because all it contains is it own meaningfulness without a shred of doubt, and therefore with out any need for asking a question in doubt. Then does a word know what another word means? It does not for if it would it would not have been the word it is but the word it knows the meanings of, only so well to be its own meanings.
So if I make you understand what are the meanings of my life than you will have none of your own. For then you will be packed full of my meaningfulness, you will become me. You can however see glimpses of my meanings of life only comparatively; you can see my ideas in contrast with yours, for example. My purpose of life is to keep being myself. The longer I stay myself the better I know who I am.

on the time scale of the history of the Earth an individual human lifetime is a mere blink of an eye. We're born, we live, and we die--and then we are "heard no more." Death is like a dreamless sleep from which we will never awake, our consciousness snuffed out forever. If this life is all there is, what is the point of living? If we're all going to be dead in the end anyway, what difference does it make what we do with our lives? We may influence the lives of others, but they too are doomed to death. In a few generations most of our accomplishments will be totally forgotten, the memories of our lives reduced to a mere name etched on a tombstone or written on a genealogy chart. In a few centuries even our tombstones will be unreadable due to weathering; our skeletal remains will be all that is left of us. Barring fossilization, these too will be disintegrated into the earth and no trace of us will remain. The matter from which we were made will be absorbed into other organisms.plants, animals, even other human beings. New species will appear, flourish, and disappear, soon to be replaced by others filling in the niche left by their extinction. Human beings too will succumb to extinction. All life on Earth will be wiped out when our dying sun expands into a red giant, finally engulfing the Earth. Ultimately the universe will be incapable of supporting any life as it expands forever, leaving only residual heat and evaporating black holes, or contracts back on itself, fusing all matter and energy into a final Big Crunch. Either way, all life in the universe will disappear forever.

This " meaning of life" thing keeps popping up, sometimes a number of times per day. The simple explanation of what "life" means is - - - the opposite of death.
Your next question needs a little work done on it. " if you don't believe in anything, what do you believe "
Okay, I know what you're asking. My purpose on earth is to follow the path of nature. All living things on earth, animals, plants, humans, are here to be born, grow up, reproduce, and die to make room for the next generation.
Of course life isn't wasteful. Without life, this planet would be nothing but a ball of rock, sand, and water. Life is what makes Earth special among the planets of our solar system.

I believe in everything. You just have to have faith in something. Your beliefs will take you there.
If you believe in God, you will go to the heaven you believe in.
If you are Buddhist you will do your Buddhist thing.
Jewish, you will do your Jewish thing.
I don't understand why it's such a big deal to everyone about religion. Why do people care what other people believe in? As far as we know right now, and as much as we will most likely ever know, there is no right answer.
So what's the big deal?
I believe that we all have some sort of purpose here on Earth. Whether we will ever find out what it is, I don't know.

I am an atheist, and have no gods.
Life developed to its present state due to the processes of evolution. We are all products of evolution, there is no hidden meaning.
That does not make life of no importance.
In what respect do you see life as a waste? A waste of what? Life is what you make it, within the confines of your personal circumstances, unless you are able to change those circumstances for another set. If at the end of your life you have done meaningful things your life will have had meaning, in those areas. People who do not do things that are recognized by society do not necessarily have lives with no meaning for them. Life is different things to different people. We all have our own little worlds. We don't need gods to give us a meaningful life, what use are gods to anyone?

We are all put on this earth fora purpose, Jesus didn't come to this earth to suffer and die on the cross for no reason. He did this so that we could have life and have it more abundantly. We are here to spread the good news about what he has done for us so that we dont have to suffer for an eternity in the firy pits of hell. We can live forver after death with Christ in heaven, carefree lives with no problems at all.
Just read the Bible John 3:16

i feel that we are here to make the most out of what we have we all spend so much time thinking of what we don't have we forget that it is our family and friends that make us truly rich. i could be here all day thinking of possibilities as to why we're here but it's all tpo do with evolution. i feel every body has a purpose though even if one person supports someone else in an invention enough for them to go ahead with it or to have children whose children will find a cure for something. we all play our part.

This life is a test for all humanity, and I believe that our 'results' will be what happens after life ends, so my purpose along with everyone else will be to live a life as good as you can make it.

Life is only wasted on those who choose to waste it.
I believe that LIFE is a journey, a test, a trial, how you travel it, learn, achieve, treat others, reflects on your spiritual growth, I am not particularly religious, just FEEL that that is so. The further along the road I go, the more I find my feeling are confirmed to me.

honestly when you have a belief in God you still wonder "what the hell was he thinking" its hard to not think that life is meaningless and maybe it is...but I found that a tangible meaning is the imprint you leave in other peoples lives...kind of like a chain effect...youre meaningful by being meaningful to others the love and compassion you put out inspires other to be that way...helping people etc etc...i mean if the human race is doomed to be here we might as well try to make it better right? that seems meaningful to me
