Jesus said: "for God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). But it seems that certain states of affairs are metaphysically impossible. Can God make 2 + 2 =5? Can God bring it about that square circles exist? Can God undo the past and make what has happened, not happen? Can God bring about a contradictory state of affairs such that both P and ~P are true at the same time and in the same sense?

a dreary tv drama posed the question

a woman -- suffering from a severe disorder -- butchers her two children...she's found innocent by reason of insanity...however: if she takes her meds, her disorder is controlled, she becomes sane, and -- as a function of sentencing -- will face the death penalty

so: if sanity can be defined as exercising a measure of control over one's actions, and insanity can be defined as being as slave to whatever impulses ramble thorough one's head, which is preferable?

to be sane and die, or, to be insane and live?

What is the true (or what do you think the) definition of soulmates mean? Because I remember a verse, it said "True Opposites".
What does that mean "true opposites", I don't understand.

Aristotle says there are four causes. The efficient cause is that cause which brings something about. For instance, a sculptor brings about a statue or a painter brings about a painting. Does the will (as efficient cause) also bring about human actions, whether they are good or bad, noble or ignoble?

I mean really, no offense gals. As Darwin has it everything must have a survival reason. Why did god create women beatiful. There MUST be a reason related to our species survival.Nature must have decided that living with a woman is so difficult and their behaviour so unattractive that if it weren't for their beauty and the men's ingrained thirst for sexual pleasure our species would have done extinct within just a few years.otherwise what survival value does it have?and remember that everything does have a reason for survival of the species, from the number of fingers in your hands to the shape of your eyes. Maybe as I said if it weren't for their attraction and beauty, men wouldn't want to have anything to do with them and as a result there would be no more humans.what do you think?

What does it mean.. and why do we all not exerience the "light"? I had a friend who had a near death experience.. she is a good person.. she didn't see the light. Does the pearly gates of heaven, mean those who have done good deeds are about to see god .??
